I'll start up by saying I'm not an Oyster fan. So, one may ask, why stop at an Oyster place??!! Good question! However, it was undeniably the view, and the atmosphere of having seafood by the waterfront.
Even though I've never liked Oysters, the staff convinced me to try some, which I did. Unfortuantely, I confirmed my dislike for them....nothing sayting anything bad at all, I think they were probably very good, just not my "thing". However, I did also order their clam chowder...what a unique take on clam chowder!! The broth was cream-based, with scallions and bacon in them. However, the clams were still in the shell in the broth, which was a great take on them...can get fresher clams in your chowder than that way! The chowder was simply delicious. (and there were a lot of clams in there, to boot....).
Hog Island also had a very good tap-beer and wine selection to go with their food.
The staff was very friendly and super helpful with my quest through the menu. The place was also popular, with a wait even at 8:00 on a Sunday evening.
All in all, a good place...I'm thinking great if you actually like oysters! I still wouldn't mind returning to try some more of their menu items...and having more of their chowder!!
