You can smell the garlic for miles! I had a 40 clove chicken dish and my husband the meatloaf. Everything was cooked to perfection. Might I add the garlic is delish, from the mash potatoes to the garlic onion soup. Fun, great service, great food. A must go to when visiting San Fran!

The Stinking Rose is a place for garlic lovers, so If you are not a garlic lover or a garlic allergic just better not to go to this place. Garlic is everywhere, from starters to desserts. I recommend the Garlic Meatballs or the Garlic Baked Triple Cream Goat Cheese as starters, the Baby Back Ribs or the Salmon as main courses and the Grand Finale, a Garlic Ice Cream, unbelievable and wonderful. The restaurant has a souvenir store worth not only for the mugs and shirts, but also for the wide offer of spices.

The Stinking Rose is true to its name. Everything is covered in or smothered in garlic. Delicious! I had the baby back ribs, the meat just falls off the bones. So. Good.
Definitely worth the visit in SF!

The Stinking Rose was recommended by friends, and it did not disappoint. The 40 Clove Chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was quite delish! Hubby had the clams and said they were very good...seemed like a lot more than a dozen and a half. The garlic and parsley with bread could be a meal itself! Our server was very attentive, helpful and friendly. Funky decor, great atmosphere. Would return if we're back in SF!!!

I made my way back to Stinking Rose after having been here about 8 years ago.
What a treat!
40 Clove Garlic chicken was my menu and there were every bit of at least 50 cloves on the plate to accompany the meal.
Garlic mashed potatoes accompanied the chicken.
All things sweet roasted garlic lie here for an incredible treat.
When back in San Fran, I will be sure to visit.
