Wasn't hard to get into - but we went at 5:30pm. Line was much longer by the time we left.

The place isn't much to look at- either from the front or inside. Loud, tightly packed, no real decor to speak of. (And my buddy from San Fran says this was after renovation)

But the food truly is amazing. I had asked my buddy to take us to a restaurant with food that we couldn't get in south Florida. This place was a great choice.

I don't care for salad- but the Tea Leaf and Rainbow salad were both wonderful- chock full of nuts/dried garlic.

Chicken curry was spicy and flavorful.

Can't wait to go back next time I am in SF.

We were visting friend in California and they took us to Burma Superstar for dinner. They kept mentioning that we might beat the rush since we went around 6:00 pm....boy were they right. As soon as we sat down, this place was packed in a matter of minutes, and i know why. The food is very good. The food is a conbination of Indian, Laos, and Thai flavors. So take the flavors of those countries and combine them into individual dishes and you have an idea of the flavors you will find in your food.

The place is a little tight on space and from what i've heard they have created another dining area to accomodate their demand.
We ordered "family style" meaning we ordered a bunch of different dishes and we all tried them. The firey chicken and tofu, the wok-tossed broccolli, pumpkin chicken stew, the tea salad, rainbow salad, coconut rice, white rice, lamb stew,

The Fiery Chicken and Tofu: A mix of tofu and chicken with stringbeans and peppers. this dish was perfectly spicy, meaning that there was flavor and spices combined. neither flavor nor spice was overwhelming.

Stir Fry Broccoli: just PERFECT! it was the best broccoli i've ever tasted. This broccoili was garlicy and crisp...cooked to perfection. An absoulte MUST TRY.

Tea Leaf Salad: this dish sounded a little wierd, but it appears to be a signature dish for them. I am so happy I tried it. Never had i tried a salad like that before. The waiter brings the salad. each ingredient is placed on the place seperately and the waiter tosses it in front of you. this is NOT your typicial salad. but a MUST TRY.

Rainbow Salad: this dish is served like the Tea Leaf Salad and is also tossed in front of you. this dish consists of 22 ingredients....yes 22. but the flavors will burst in your mouth once you've tasted it. (people with nut allergies should beware though). MUST TRY!

Coconut Rice:...this is a MUST TRY!

Pumpkin Chicken Stew: this was a good dish. done well. but if you're not into pumpkin...try something else.

Lamb Curry: this is a red curry sauce. Again, done pretty well. a safe dish. great flavor.

The portions are not huge, they are reasonable. Probably good for one person, If you order a rice or a noodle dish with an entree. So if you want to try more than one dish, sharing is your best bet.

This is a come as you are sorta place. A great local hangout with great food and a wonderful vibe.

OH...and they do serve Alcohol.... ;0)

We came at 450pm and sat on the bench and got a table straight away as you would expect. 45 mins later the restaurant was full. Tea leaf salad you have to get. Very fresh and tasty. The samosas were also great. We also ordered the calamari which was very tasty. The lamb curry was delicately spiced and tender. The Aubergine curry was good. Portions are large so be careful if you want to "sample stuff". All in all a very pleasant experience. Staff polite and attentive and food yummy!!

I thought tea leaf salad sounded quite odd, but it is the best green healthy thing I have ever eaten!

My opportunities to visit the bay area are few, but I'll be going back to this place every time! Timing your arrival is probably key. We didn't have a wait in getting a table, but I couldn't believe the line when we left! So seating is very cramped, the wait can be horrid, service was OK, but the food is soooo good! The tastiness and quality of food makes everything else seem quite trivial.

Came highly recommended by a friend and was absolutely worth the long wait.
Food is yummy, authentic and flavourful.
The plathas and curry were yummy. Interesting starters as well.
The place is quite compact and fits in the maximum it can manage given the space.
Don't get dithered by the queues outside it is a must try in Chinatown!
