Stayed 2 nights older hotel near Union Square, China town and Nob Hill and cable car stop. Updated room with kitchen area walk in closet and hardwood floors. No view double bed and very clean. The breakfast was good. Service was good. I loved the 2 old turn of the century elevators. The hotel is old updated clean and a comfortable value in good location in an expensive city. Would like to return to this hotel. It fit the bill for us

Nice place to stay with a bit of old charm. Checkin was easy with very helpful staff giving a quick run down of SFO on the provided map. Convenience store located next to the hotel makes for cheap snacks. Location is good with local busses and trams in short walking distance. Breakfast was adequate to keep us going till late afternoon.

Stayed recently at the Mayflower Frisco.
Very centrally located for a tourist.
Large, clean room and clean bath, but a bit too small.
Our room had been recently redone so it was really in good condition.
Some problems though that need to be fixed.
1. Loud knocking sounds during anytime of the day or night that maybe are caused by water pressure in the hot water taps/ fire fighting pipes along the corridors. This will awaken light sleepers.
2. Dodgy wifi.
3. Squeeky springs on the day bed.
All the above may relate only to room 208.
Excellent front desk staff, always helpful. Complimentary breakfast and complimentary parking for small cars, a real money saver in San Francisco.
All in all this hotel gets 4 out of 5 because it's really affordable and this helps erase the downside of the problems listed above.

Room Tip: Higher floors I guess

Absolutely loved this charming hotel. The art in the lobby/halls and theme based rooms is wonderful, along with the funky retro elevators. We were in the "Heart" room ( as in " I left my heart....".) and had a fun cafe table and chairs in our room under beautiful wall art featuring a giant heart. And of course with wine glasses in the room, we put it to good use! All the staff we talked with were friendly and helpful but a special shout out for Nancy who made sure my favorite sweater left behind was returned to me even though she had to go to the post office twice to do it due to PO snafu. Whn I offered to pay shipping the second time around she said no! She is the reason i have written my first ever online review. We were in a heat wave and though there was no AC, the windows opened and a ceiling fan did the rest. Only complaint is the big old hill we had to climb from BART -- guess they can't fix that. Will definitely go again.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor for the view with a ceiling fan in summer Ignore rating for fitness center a...

If want to stay a couple of days at San Francisco, you should stay here. The prices is awesome and you'll have everything you need. The continental breakfast serves very well. Is at the downtown and everything is nearby.

I recently spent two nights here- what a great hotel in the middle of a great city! It was like stepping back in time, ornate woodwork, beautiful lobby, very friendly people- all modern conveniences such as wi-fi, free computers and printers available, etc. My room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast (free to guests) was excellent. Prices very reasonable. I highly recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return here.

We really enjoyed this place. It was kind of vintage and cool, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I will gladly stay here on future visits to SF. Location was quite good and near public transit. My only gripe, which may have just been a fluke or accident...there were no wash cloths to be found in the room. I thought that was kind of odd, but wasn't a huge enough deal for me to ask about. Haha! I know...it sounds weird. I did very much enjoy my stay overall though. Great, charming hotel. Great staff. Comfortable, spacious and clean rooms. A win, overall for sure!
