I really enjoyed this hotel. My room was a good size for 1 person. I also love the mini kitchenette. The location was extremely convienent. Trader Joe's was 3 blocks away from the hotel!!!!! The price for the room was great compared to what I expected! This hotel is a nice surprise!!!

Room Tip: You can hear the garbage trucks and the cable car track at 5am in the front room

Having a great time in this lovely hotel. It is so refreshing not to be in a chain hotel for once
The room we are staying in (615) is spacious, clean and very quiet. The beds are very comfy, breakfast good with home made breads/muffins,and you can easily walk to Union Square,China Town etc. One recommendation: it is freezing this weekend, and we waited for well over an hour in the freezing cold for a cable car. Went out again at night time and could just hop on. Looks great at night time,so unless you are travelling with young children, go at night and use the time during the day for other things. If you want your photo taken hanging off the car, just walk to one of the waiting cars and ask one of the friendly conductors....

Very good location, pretty, charming hotel with an old and fun elevator. There is free parking as well. AMAZING breakfast! The staff is nice and helpful and prices are really decent. Close to restaurants and public transit. We recommend this hotel.

Without hesitation we chose the Mayflower again after staying there last yr., and do not plan to stay anywhere else when visiting SF in the future. The location just above Nob Hill and 3 blocks from Union Square is perfect for accessing restaurants, shopping and public trans hub to tourist sites. The rooms are large and comfortable and we LOVE the CHARM of the entire place. The employees are friendly, patient, helpful and all seem like family who really take pride in maintaining this wonderfully, unique 1926 hotel. If you hate blah chain hotels, Hotel Mayflower is the place for you. Enjoy the aromas of scones, sweet breads and tea biscuits baking each afternoon that you can enjoy the following morning along with bagels, toast, boiled eggs, cheeses, oatmeal and cereal and fruit. The milk & juice are not watered down like some breakfast buffets and the towels and bath cloths are thick and clean, all examples that the Mayflower staff seeks to treat you like
true guests, not just paying customers. There are 2 laundry facilities and 2 markets on the block which was super convenient for us. Also walk 3 blocks S to the Nob Hill Cafe for fantastic Italian. Anyone who complains about any part of their stay at the Hotel Mayflower is just too picky- especially at the super reasonable prices they charge.

We stayed two nights in June with our two kids. This hotel is a great price, a good location and full of character. We had two cupboards in our room which were huge! - Almost like dressing rooms - and really made storage of our luggage easy. This would be a great place to stay for longer as it has a small kitchenette and a market for a basic food shop right next door. The owners were genuinely helpful. We accidentally left a very special soft toy behind and Nancy was very helpful. I would certainly stay here again!

We LOVED it here. For some reason I wasn't expecting much of this hotel but when we arrived I was so happy. There is free parking in there underground garage but the driveway is VERY TIGHT so don't bring a large car. Also there is only limited spaces so you're not guaranteed a spot.

It's beautiful, old hotel with a lot of character. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were big. We had a room with 2 double beds, a large walk-in closet (where we stored our luggage), small kitchenette, drawer space, TV and a bathroom. We loved everything but the breakfast, although it was included in the cost of the room, it was far too simple and we were wanting more sustenance like hot eggs.

The price was fabulous for the location. A few blocks from Chinatown, Union Square (shopping) and plenty of transport options.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Bush St as it was quite noisy during the morning and night

We stayed four nights at the Mayflower. Initial impression wasn't great because of a strong musty smell in the lobby (which improved over time). We loved the old-fashioned elevators. The basement level garage easily saved us over $100 in parking fees but was quite a challenge to enter/exit. The room itself wasn't huge but fairly recently renovated and the included breakfast was more than adequate.
