We were looking for a quiet hotel in the heart of San Francisco, but with a lot of class. This was it. Right across the street from the Market, Ocean Front, Wonderful terraces, and exceptional service. If you want to avoid the tourist traps, noise and hustle and bustle of the city then this spot is for you. Plus you are minutes by cab, or short walk to all the hot spots of the city. The rooms are excellent! All the little things that make a hotel stay fantastic you can find at this small "hip" hotel. Young or old they cater to all. The concierge was terrific. Found us a great spot for dinner “Georges”. The desk and doorman staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel helped us have a truly perfect San Francisco weekend. Thank YOU! We will be back!

Stayed at Hotel Vitale with one day of business across the bay, then two days of fun in SF, my favorite destination. This hotel is perfectly situated for fun and business, just across from the ferry building at the end of Market Street. Every thing we did was in walking distance or a short ride on cable cars, trains, or the ferry.
The staff had a reserved but can do approach whenever we needed anything at all. Rooms were very nice with a killer view of the bay. We will return to Vitale when in SF again.

We quite enjoyed our second visit to the Vitale. Wonderful location across from the Ferry Building and walking distance to many great restaurants. Great customer service and we enjoyed the morning yoga as well. Can't wait to return!

I've been down to San Francisco on business quite a few times lately and this is the hotel I always try to book. It's got a trendy elegance to it and an unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere that makes it feel like home.

The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable, the service is courteous and polished and the location is fantastic (across the street from the Ferry Building Marketplace).

I love the place. Note: make sure to check out the deck(s) on the 5th floor, especially on a sunny day. It's a great spot to sit with a glass of wine.

I know that some of the reviews were iffy about this hotel, but I really liked it. I am a pain to everyone when it comes to hotels (must be spotless and in a safe location). I thought the location of this hotel was great. You are right across the street from the ferry building and there are plenty of options in the building and are the streets nearby (Perry's-very good). The rooms are a little on the small side but definitely doable with husband and two teenagers. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I had know problems with staff. They were very pleasant at check in and check out. I also must say that Monique who worked bell services was absolutely fantastic. She gave us so much information on things to do, great restaurants, directions and general advice about the area. We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of our pacific coast highway trip and Monique got us off to a good start. I hope that this hotel knows what an asset she is. Thank you Monique for all the help. Anyway after look at the hotels in the Union Square and Wharf area I know that i made the right decision when choosing this hotel. Having the farmers market across the street really made it even that much better. Great food choices at the market.

We stayed at Hotel Vitale on the final leg of our honeymoon, having been to Vegas and Maui. The first thing that struck us was the location - it was perfect. Bang opposite the Bay Bridge and Pier 1, right in the heart of the financial district and equidistant between the centre of the city and Fisherman's Wharf.

We arrived at 6am on our flight so wanted to check in very early. When we got there we were offered an upgrade to a circular suite for $100 a night (having paid $100 a night for a deluxe room as part of our honeymoon offer) - so for just $200 (£133) we got an incredibly elegant suite with panoramic views of the harbour and bay bridge opposite, and got to check in eight hours early.

The room was beautiful, equipped with 32" LCD, auto-blinds, two i-pod docks, great bathroom facilities and adequate wardrobe space. The rest of the hotel is very modern, with superb staff always on hand to help with taxis, info and transfers. There is a very nice bar/restaurant area where we drank only briefly but the staff were kind enough to treat us to two rounds of free drinks for the final nights of our honeymoon. We also came back on the first day to find a free bottle of Champagne on ice in our room courtesy of the hotel. It is also directly opposite the superb Boulevard restaurant (seperate review).

I cannot recommend this place enough, no matter what reason you are staying in San Fran.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. We used to live in SF so we were picky about location. We loved staying across the from the Ferry building because it was so beautiful and peaceful (especially when comparing it with hotels near Union Square or Fisherman's Wharf). We were able to walk to great restaurants, spend time on the roof deck gazing at the Bay Bridge and could quickly get to public transportation. The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean. We had an ocean view and the they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine.
