“An excellent St. Regis experience”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

I surprised my wife with a three day weekend trip here for her birthday. It took place Feb. 28th - March 2nd. We love the St. Regis experience, and we were actually married at the St. Regis in Bora Bora. To surprise my wife I called the hotel days earlier and requested a dozen yellow roses be waiting in the room upon our arrival. I also asked them to receive a package through the mail and have that waiting in the room as well. The concierge took care of everything and delivered the request perfectly. The hotel manager Mr. William Fong, sent up a hand written letter addressed to my wife and I, as well as a chilled bottle of wine from Sonoma to welcome us. The room service was brisk, the breakfast excellent, and the staff all exceptionally courteous. The bathroom had hinge doors that opened the deep bathtub into the bedroom in our corner grand deluxe room. The room was spotless (as is the entire building) and the digital room control is great. The touch of a button and you can close all the drapes in the room as well as the blackout shades. The bar downstairs is a very lively and classy scene at night. We hit the city the majority of the time since it was my wife's first time there. Our feet were killing us at the end of the second day, so when we decided to go out for the night we asked the doorman for a driver and the hotel's house Bentley dropped us off for a great dinner at Perbacco. It is hard to stay anywhere else once you have had a great St. Regis experience, and this hotel exemplifies that. Service like this is what other hotels should strive for. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I hope to stay here again in June for Apple's WWDC convention - See you then St. Regis SF!

Room Tip: The corner rooms, suites, and grand deluxe rooms have the best views, look for a room on the 10th fl...

A delayed review as we stayed here in Nov 2013, but it was such a wonderful experience that I had to share a review. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the service was impeccable. The bellmen all new us by name (Mr. and Mrs. x) and the front desk even upgraded us to a higher floor due to the ongoing construction (that I expressed concern about). We stayed in room 1010 and though there were no spectacular views, we did not book this hotel for the views. (We had already stayed a night at the InterContinental on Nob Hill for the beautiful views, though that hotel did not compare to the St Regis in terms of star rating, service, cleanliness, and general upkeep). Our room at the St Regis was enormous, luxurious, and most importantly to us - quiet!

We loved the central location of the hotel - within walking distance of most tourist attractions and great restaurants. The hotel even offers a complimentary luxury towncar to take you within a 2 mile radius of the hotel after 6pm at night. There was never a wait if we were downstairs before 7 or 7:30. After 7:45, the wait for the car was 20 -30 minutes. The time easily passed with a drink at the beautiful downstairs lobby bar.

The only negative experience we had was the restaurant the concierge recommended. I hate to blame the concierge, but they should not recommend restaurants that are (in my opinion) mediocre. I thought we'd be better taken care of with a reservation made through a concierge. We mostly booked our own restaurant reservations, but did ask the concierge for a recommendation for this one night. They recommended 25Lusk. I don't want to make this review about the restaurant, but even with a reservation made by the concierge, they made us wait over 20 minutes for our table, which was way too close to the table next to us (we could have been eating dinner with them). The service was terrible, food mediocre, and the restaurant was LOUD.

That was, however, a small blip in an otherwise fabulous stay at the St Regis. When we're in the San Francisco area again, we will certainly choose the St Regis again.

Love the room set up with bathroom open to sleeping area...Flat screen tvs...Halls are a little to dark and location could be better but the gym/spa are tops. I stay here a lot weekly and love the place. Highly recommend this place or the Four Seasons SF.

Decent hotel but very convention oriented. Rooms much too hot. The bar on the first floor was always so packed that there was nowhere to sit with colleagues. Expensive. There are better places to stay

Room Tip: If you want a place to sit in your room you need to ask (and pay for) a room with a chase!

My wife and I went for a weekend get away and loved this hotel! The staff was very friendly and engaging. The concierge got us a great table at a fantastic Italian restaurant. Stay away from the lavender martini in the lobby bar.

Room Tip: The views and amenities of the corner suites are fantastic!

Checked into this hotel after a two long flights from South Africa. The lobby is chic and impressive. Spoke to Laura who handled our check in. She was prompt and efficient and then showed me the room that I booked and then offered me an upgrade! That is the way to start a holiday and after flying for 20 hours this was such a fabulous welcome for us. The suite was spacious and fully automated in terms of blinds and climate control. The bathroom was massive and convenient and the amenities were always replenished. Not too sure if I slept like a baby because of jet lag or the comfortable beds! Above all, whenever we left or entered the hotel we were always greeted by friendly and warm staff. The concierge was very helpful. In terms of location, this hotel is very well located -close to Union Square and the Cal Train.Pool area is beautiful. This is very luxurious and classy hotel and we will definitely be back. Your staff at front desk, and more particularly Laura are true ambassadors for your brand and hotel. Our first hotel in the USA for this trip and definitely the best.
