Amazing location, right off Union square with a fab diner straight across the road. Stayed 4 nights in a quiet room (except the floorboards) with an amazing shower, much needed after traveling. Room made and fresh towels everyday. Great WiFi and plenty of room. Amazing dressing gowns to wear after a long day of sightseeing. Gym well equipped and maintained. Beautiful bar on site but expensive for food.

Overall experience of the Hotel was very frustrating.
Building is old, and I felt that it was not totally renovated.
Our room was on the 3rd floor, and it was very dark, even at noon. No light whatsoever. We have to constantly turn on the light at all hours of the day. No view. View of the back of the building.
Location used to be a plus for the region. But not anymore. At night, it was not pleasant to walk around. Lots of beggars and me, looking like a tourist, was an easy target for people reaching out and asking for change.
Hotel has only one person at the front desk. I asked for silverware, and I good a spoon from a random drawer. No help with parking, and luggage. There is a massive parking garage nearby, and when I asked the frontdoor, they failed to say where I could find parking. And I had to carry all luggage through the long corridor and up to the room.

Overall it was a bad experience. But like all things, there is a silver lining: the poor experience kept me on the streets and enjoying SF.

Room tip: maybe high floors ?

This hotels location is the selling point - right next to union square. Rooms small and dark. Very noisy at night- but probs an issue anywhere around union square. Bar is a strange set up- very loud and while you enter from the hotel it’s not actually owned by the hotel! For the money... not convinced by this hotel.

Loved the style and feel of the hotel. Comfortable room, great shower. Easy location to get around the city. My partner booked us for Pride weekend as a surprise; but I'm the one writing the review! He doesn't do reviews! lol

We stayed for 6 nights at the G and I have to say, we would stay here again. Ideal location and a block away from all your shops in union square and transport links.
The staff were friendly and helpful, this Hotel filled all our expectations. Comfortable, clean rooms but there was a bit of noise from the air con. There also a great little bar on site. Would definitely stay here again. We loved the quirky fittings and little touches like providing earplugs. Try booking direct from the hotel website itself we found this was cheaper than other prices by online sites.
