Owner description: Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

I have wanted to get to Baker Beach for quite a while. The view of the Golden Gate Bridge is incredible. Public parking available in 2 spots, but expect a lot of people if the weather is nice.

This is were the locals hang. If your are brave you can bare your bottom at one end of the beach. Lots of parking, Great for a walk with the dog. Please don't try to swimm here it's very dangerous as are all the beaches in San Francisco. The view is the opening to the bay and it is called the Golden Gate which the bridge was named. The Gate was discovered by land because many ships exploring the California coast miss the passage in the heavy fog and for fear of the dangerous rocks.

This is a great beach right on the west coast of the city. The views of the Golden Gate and surrounding areas are wonderful, and this is a great place to chill out. Nice sand, friendly people and not as touristy as other areas.

Baker Beach offers great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin headlands, and easy access to the Presidio/Golden Gate attraction center via a short hike. It's a little bit difficult to get to without a car: take the 28 bus to 25th Avenue and walk about a mile to the beach. If it's a warm day make sure to bring some water if you plan on hiking - there aren't any spots to buy any along the paths.
