There's nothing wrong with the hotel itself and the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are nice too but the reason for only giving it 2 stars is the limited service and the food quality.
The breakfast buffet was dire-horrible, cold food, then between breakfast and 5pm there's NOTHING! No room service, no food at the bar. Really? Is this supposed to be a 4* hotel? When I did manage to order food, the burger was pretty awful: greasy bun and the quality of the meat was bad plus the chips (French fries) seemed to have been cooked 3 times over. Also, the drinks at the bar are pretty pricey.
The location isn't particularly great either. I'm in pretty good shape but walking up the hill was a struggle, especially because it was quite warm too. Apparently it's on the top of the steepest hill in San Francisco.
Over the years I have stayed in several hotels in San Francisco and unfortunately this is my least favourite one.More
