“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2013

This was my wife and I's last stop on our honeymoon. I chose this place since it was close to the Pier and the location was good, and it was a great location.

First things first, i can't believe how much it costs to park in this city! $45 for valet, plus tip, plus the other charges was about 65$ a night to park at the hotel, eeek, but really no other choices and it was convienent to do it this way. Here are my thoughts on the hotel:

SERVICE: Service was great I must say, check in and check out were easy, and all of the people who worked here were very friendly! It's great to have that at a hotel, so polite, so friendly, thank you for that.

LOCATION : Location was prime obviously since it was walking distance to Pier 39 and other little areas . My wife and I walked all around here and it was nice that we were close to the hotel. Also if we needed to drive to a site, we were less than 10 minutes anywhere we needed to go. The location is definitely a good one!

ROOM : This was probably my only negative part . The rooms were tiny.. especially for the $300 a night price. We stayed in hollywood at the loews hollywood hotel for half of that in a suite 4x the size. I was slightly disappointed in the size room but in the end it really was no big deal . The bed was a queen so i just had to cuddle closer to my wife and the bed was still comfortable.

I dont let the little things get in the way of the enjoyment of my trip, so the size of the room really was not a detriment to either of us .

All in all location is great, so check this place out if you are in town.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are interested in Pier 39, cable cars, great views of the Golden Gate (from the Pier), and Ghirardelli Square. The room was a little small but the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small but there was great water pressure for a hot shower. Nice, quiet room. Staff were incredibly friendly. Nice welcoming wine reception upon arrival (which after traffic, you may need it!). Used valet parking and my car came back in perfect condition. When we return, we will stay here again. The overall price was about $100 less than the other hotels in the area so it felt like a great deal!

The location of this hotel is wonderful. A few blocks from Embarcadero so fairly quiet and convenient. The staff was wonderful. Valet was efficient and friendly (although the entrance to the hotel is small and awkward and was blocked with other vehicles when we arrived, so we had to circle the block a few times), and the front desk staff was also friendly and quick to check us in. The room we had was tiny, but was clean and adequate for our purposes, although it overlooked a residential apartment building, so if we kept the shutters open for some sunlight, everyone could look right in our room. We had fresh clean towels and hotel toiletries, but the bathrooms in this place need a serious overhaul. The front desk area and lobby of the hotel is quite high end looking, but the rooms do not reflect that. Understandably, when you are in a prime location, it's a tough call to shut down any portion of the hotel to renovate, but the rooms need it. The paint on the ceiling was peeling off and there were brown water stains on the ceiling. There was black mould around the edges of the tub and mirror, and the hot/cold was reversed in the shower. We had to let the sink run for several minutes to even get any hot water, and the shower temperature was very tempermental as well, switching from hot to cold with no warning. No, we did not complain to the front desk as we are not typically very picky people, but I thought I would put all these details in my review just to provide an accurate account of our experience. Overall, it was not a bad experience...just a few things that the hotel should consider to bring it up to par with some of the other high-end chains in the area. I will say that we got a wonderful rate on this hotel over the holidays through Expedia. I've paid nearly that much to stay in very average hotels in small towns. I would stay here again.

Quite a distance from the airport, however this was the perfect location. Two blocks away from the Fisherman's Wharf. The Hop-on Hop-Off bus was two blocks away. The hotel room was spacious with fridge, microwave and coffee/tea station. A big plus is the supermarket across the road. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The Concierge also gave us very useful information.

We stayed here for one night before our cruise to Hawaii. The location was great. About 2 blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. We found the hotel lobby to very nice, with a friendly staff. There is a supermarket next door for those last minute items you forgot to pack. The room was small but comfortable. Next time we cruise out of San Francisco we will stay here again.

I have stayed for 4 nights on business. First night was hard because of jet lagged and the people staying next door kept on banging the doors, talking loudly which kept me from falling asleep. Hotel in general is good except the sound proofing. The bath tub was dirty. I wonder if anyone would dare to take a bath with it. Staff were friendly and the valet with unlimited in/outs was good but slightly expensive.

Room Tip: choose a room facing the safeway side, less noisy at night.

Hi aweiys - Thanks for staying with us and for taking the time to share your comments. Sorry to hear that your visit was not as pleasant an experience as we would have hoped. Tough when our neighbors are not as quiet as we would prefer. We wish you safe travels and a happy New Year.
