“Good location, poor beds”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

This is an older hotel that has been renovated. Good location, near Fishermens Wharf, Giardelli Square and the cable car turnaround. The rooms are fairly spacious, though bathrooms are tiny. Single King beds only, no seperate beds. Morning coffee available in the lobby, but no breakfast, though a good restaurant is adjoining. The Consierge was very helpful with information and buying tickets to the Ballet. Main problem for me was the overly soft mattress, resulting in a painful backache. Also, our room was not serviced by housekeeping on one day. Valet parking garage was convenient though expensive, $50/day.

Hi MarciaDM - Thanks for staying and sharing your comments. We do offer rooms with Two Queen beds for guests who prefer separate beds. Sorry to hear that our new luxurious pillow top beds were not to your preference and that housekeeping did not service your room one day. I sent you a private message to find out further details and I hope to connect with you soon. Till then.....

Hotel is right near the wharf, comparably priced and has an excellent service oriented staff. Enjoyed my stay immensely. There was Managers Wine tasting every evening, fresh coffee and lemon flavored water in the lobby, internet access was excellent and the staff made me feel like a member of their family.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. We have stayed there twice over the past three years. It is very clean and comfortable and close to Fisherman's Warf. We also like the 5:00 PM happy hour in the lobby with free wine, and the attached restaurant for breakfast.

My husband and I got away for a 48 hour holiday, celebrating his birthday. We had lots of fun iin the Fisherman's Wharf area, where we'd not stayed for decades. The hotel was fantastic, close walking distance to all the opportunities Fisherman's Wharf provides. It was good times, together, seeing changes in the area, and touring favorite places including the Buena Vista, where Irish coffee was invented and the Boudin sourdough bread factory, plus Musee Mechanique.

The location was excellent and so close to Pier 39 and many restaurants including Boudin bakery. Our tours office was just down the street and so convenient to catch the bus. The rooms and lobby were very clean. We really enjoyed the complimentary wine and pizza every night from 5:00 to 6:00 in the lobby. Met some great people and enjoyed sharing our experiences in San Francisco. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family and would stay here again for my next visit.

We just spent five nights at the Tuscan to celebrate my 30th birthday and my friend's 35th, and it was top-notch. All of the staff went above and beyond for the four us - we really enjoyed Tom's insights. ;) We also appreciated the extra touches. My friend checked in on her birthday and her and her boyfriend were greeted with a couple glasses of wine, a room upgrade and a bottle of champagne. We loved the complimentary wine reception, and I was thankful when a couple of bottles were delivered to our room on my birthday, near the end of our stay. We enjoyed our first meal in SanFran in the hotel's restaurant and it was delicious. My friend surprised me with breakfast in bed on my birthday and the eggs benedict was delightful, even if it did come an hour earlier than expected. She scheduled it for 7:30, but the time change made it feel like 6:30. ;) While the rooms were small, they were quaint and the beds were cloud-like - pure heaven after a day of sightseeing. The only recommendation would be more detailed house-keeping. On more than one occasion, dirty coffee mugs were left in the room. And, my hubby got sick at the end of the stay, so it would have been nice to have an extra box of tissues in the room. All in all, a wonderful time was had by all and we would stay at the Tuscan again. Thank you to all of the staff for making our experience enjoyable. P.S. The location was great.

Room Tip: We had a room that faced the courtyard. :)

I just spent 5 nights at The Tuscan and cannot speak more highly of the hotel and the staff. The rooms were really comfortable, a good nice and furnished really nicely. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable too! The staff put me in a courtyard room, which was quiet but also really secure and safe for a young woman traveling on her own. The staff were really friendly and always happy to help with any questions I had. The evening wine reception was fabulous and a great way to meet others staying in the hotel. Location was also excellent, walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf (2 mins) and the cable car to downtown. I loved everything about San Francisco and my stay at The Tuscan was truly wonderful!
