“Nice, but WAY overpriced!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

Nice but WAY overpriced. We ordered room service which was very good- the food and the prompt service, but for what you pay for this downtown hotel the service is mediocre at best. We had to request a second bathrobe, toiletries for two, not one, etc. They were delivered promptly but just tossed onto the luggage rack near the door. Asked concierge for help with car rental, which he agreed to, and responded w/ in 30 min . Telling us that he had reserved the car that we requested, but instead of having it delivered to the hotel we had to go fetch it ourselves a few blocks away. When we got there, we were told the car that was reserved was not available and hadn 't been for days. All of these we're minor hassles but when you pay this much for a hotel stay you should be able to expect impeccably attentive service. We would not return .

My stay at the hotel was very uncomplicated as the service was perfect and the were rooms nice, clean, and quiet. The location of the hotel is perfect as shopping, sightseeing, and public transportation is close by. The concierge is very accommodating up to date. As for the breakfast, the quality is ok but I perferred going out in the city.

I had high hopes, but they weren't met. Some of the staff was great, others not so much. Food was OK. Room was typical and a little worn. This is definitely a $200 or less establishment in terms of value and expectation. Conference rooms were OK, though the AC was inconsistent and for the most part it was too hot. Location is OK. Everything was OK. 3 stars for that.

Just returned from another outstanding stay at the HOTEL NIKKO in San Francisco. This makes it my 6th or 7th stay and it only gets better!! From the inviting emails you receive following your reservation to posts you receive while there to ensure all is fine (as if) to a gentleman hailing a cab for me at 5.30am, this hotel is TOP NOTCH in every respect.

The hotel is simply a beautiful hotel and never feels like a circus going on at the reception desk or in the spacious elegant lobby. Elevators which can drive you crazy are timed to arrive and descend within seconds of pressing that button

I recommend the Imperial Room which is a series of rooms on the top 3 floors (accessible only by elevator with your room card ). Besides a phenomenal view of the city and a beautifully spacious room with a full bath and full shower (and tv imbedded in the bathroom mirror), you have 24 hour access to the Club Room where you can partake of a beautiful buffet breakfast, read your favorite newspapers, navigate the computers, watch a large screen tv .\, enjoy a wine and cheese and hot o'doueves at 5pm, and meet LUIS who is the most popular person in the hotel. There is not enough Luis can do for you in making sure your breakfast is top notch and anything else you may require. His greeting every morning starts my day!! On his day off, Sahar was also most pleasant and helpful. Luis has informed me that the Club Room will be completely renovated in August so I can't wait to see how they can improve it.

The hotel also has a large swimming pool which is the only hotel outdoor like pool I believe in the city. It has a glass covering so it feels like you are outside plus a walk around patio deck
which is lovely. Weight room also of course with exercise equipment...all done in a lovely peaceful Oriental style.

There is a world famous cabaret in the hotel FEINSTEINS which hosts visiting vocalists and revues. Michael Feinstein is the renowned singer/concert performer and expert of every song in American history!! PBS did a 2 part show on his expertise.

I came across some gentlemen removing a giant mattress from the room. I inquired (of course) and they said a couple had requested a bed low to the ground as is their custom back home. This level of accommodation was quite impressive.

The location is perfect. Minutes away from the bustling downtown, cable cars and gigantic shopping centre on Market

I'm sure I am forgetting outstanding features. You'll have to discover them for yourself. I like the button you push when you are ready for your room to be made up. I have never returned to an unmade room...even at 11am!!

Special mention to Concierge extraordinaire Theresa Vaillancourt who answers emails within 15 minutes!!!

San Francisco is a phenomenal city and your stay at the NIKKO only adds to the experience.

I'm already booked for next year!!!.

Room Tip: For that added feature, go for the Imperial Room...well worth it in terms of saving on breakfasts, n...

We planned our trip to embrace and watch as many World Cup games as possible. We decided to go through Priceline Express Deals and was somewhat disappointed at the hotel when I originally viewed it, but....... When we checked in I was so very impressed w/the ambiance, location and staff. We upgraded to the Imperial Club which we took full advantage of .... Happy hour w/wine, beer & h'orderves, great view from our room and a phenomenal breakfast! Cozy fluffy comfy bed and pillows w/robes and slippers. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a great stay in SF!

Room Tip: Loved the Imperial club!

This hotel is beautiful and posh. Very nice inside with nice modern rooms. Many of them with very nice views of the city. They have underground valet parking. We had a hard time finding the entrance though (go around to the opposite side of the building from the main front entrance). When we arrived at the front desk to check in we were given complimentary wine. Nice! The entire hotel is very upscale with a nice restaurant inside. You could pay a little more and have access to the pool area, which we opted not to do. Centrally located but a little too far too walk to the wharf. But next to some cool dining spots. All in all we had a pleasant stay and would go back.

I just spent $350 to stay at the Hotel Nikko for one night and I will never stay here again.

Here's why:

1. Pool Access - The main photo for this hotel is their pool. Looks nice, doesn't it? Well if you actually want to use it, that will cost you an extra $20.
2. Internet Access - Need to access the web? No problem. That will cost $17 per day.
3. Breakfast - Hungry in the morning? Eat breakfast at the hotel for only $35 per person.
4. Room Temperature - By default, your room's temperature control (A/C) will be turned off. If you don't happen to notice this before you go to bed, no problem! You will automatically wake up in the middle of the night, sick to your stomach because the room is 85 degrees. Sure, you'll have a bad night's rest - but think about how much money the hotel is saving! Profits, profits, profits! That's the key to customer service, right?
5. Hidden Charges - Check your bill closely. The hotel may decide that you should be making a donation to the Leukemia Society so they will add a $2 charge to your bill without asking you.

The Hotel Nikko is literally the worst hotel I have ever been to among hotels 3 stars and up. Actually, I did go to a "3-star" hotel in Nepal that was worse... but well, that was Nepal.
