Location suited as (a) Roughly 2 blocks NE to Powell/ Market St for BART on arrival from SFO airport. (b) If visiting sights out from downtown, there's multiple bus/ Muni lines both on Market and parallel streets (c) Same if going towards/ thro' downtown & for Powell cable car lines. My room size was reasonable altho' the bathroom was pretty small. Bed was very comfortable. Slight gripe that light switches weren't within bed reach. Windows gave clear view mid distance, useful to judge weather. Not a large hotel and no pretence of being uber opulent, but clean and all staff friendly. Between front door and reception adequate seating provides groups rendezvous point. As others have mentioned usually someone to greet you outside the front door and open it. If not you are acknowledged passing the porter station. A nice touch which made you feel valued as a guest. Small/ medium stores for any essentials needed can be found within a block from the front door. Between the Hotel and Union Square is the Theatre District with the offspin of restaurants catering for various cuisines and levels of expectation.
