Yes, as it goes in real estate. The best part of any hotel is its location. Right next to Union square in SF, this hotel has unmatched convenience for everyone looking to explore the everyday hussle bussle of SF. The services are very average and would rate the room below average basis size and price. One can stay here if traveling as couple or with friends. I was traveling with a friend so had a fun time, but would not check-in here with family.
Not any in-house restaurant eating options, although neighborhood is swarming with options.

Room Tip: Take the rooms facing the street. Atleast one gets a decent window view.

Stayed here for 10 nights at the end of March 2014 and very pleased with it. It's a small friendly hotel 10 minutes walk from Union Square and the Chinese Quarter and 15 minutes from Market Street where you can get street cars (F Line to Ferry Building and Fisherman's Wharf), #5 bus to Golden Gate Park and loads of shops, etc. Cable Car stop is about 5 minutes away.
Rooms were clean though smallish, but still enough room for two of us. Space is at a premium in San Fran anyway. Attached 'old English Pub' is convenient but don't expect gourmet dining - Cesarios 50 metres away is okay for a decent meal but the complimentary continental breakfast is more than adequate.

I asked for a quiet room before checking in and got one at the back away from the traffic and lift/elevator noise, though the air-conditioning on the adjacent building was a muted drone, but not overly intrusive.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel for the reasons stated above and its reasonable price.

Room Tip: As suggested earlier, phone in advance and request a quiet room.

A good location at a reasonable price. Some people in the staff are not polite, try to avoid them. The breakfast is correct and the beds are comfortable. The location is very good, near downtown, the cable car, Chinatown.

Room Tip: Rooms looking on right side are noisy

At first, this hotel didn't seem like a bad choice. It was convenient to our nearby conference and was half the price. The worst part was the noise. Our room was right next to the elevator and the attached restaurant/bar. It was noisy all night. Loud music, talking, sporadic elevator passings, and very loud street noises entering through poorly sound proofed windows/walls. Falling asleep was nearly impossible. I would not recommend this for a business trip that requires early bedtimes to accomodate early morning meetings. As a plus, our room was close enough to the lobby to have access to the free wifi.

Location near union square convenient. Cereal, muffins, fruit for breakfast. 5:00 pm popcorn, nuts, hot dogs available. Older hotel, but very clean. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Some have bath tubs, others do not.

It's in a good location in a short walking distance to Union square, Westin Mall, the cable car, two big bus stops, and lots of places to eat. You can tell it's an older building, but that is part of it's charm. The room was nice and bed comfortable. The room had a mini fridge which was stocked with fairly priced items. The closet wasn't very big. We had two chairs and a small table. One thing I was disappointed in is the continental breakfast. They had two menus they alternated between each day. They had coffee, milk, and juice, but no tea. They also had pastries and cereal. What I wish they had was some kind of protein. But that's typically what you get in a continental breakfast. Just too many calories and not enough to sustain. Overall it was a good choice.

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and attention to service provided. We came in at 9:00 am and there was already a room available - and on the 7th floor - best location. Yes the rooms are a bit small - European style, however there were still a bed, 3 chairs, a side table, and a desk. Very clean. Flat screen TV. A well stocked mini bar fridge and SUPRISE - reasonable prices. Only $1.25 for a beer and $10 for a whole bottle of wine. Most other places will charge you at least $6.00 for a beer.
The front desk staff were very accommodating. They can arrange Shuttle to SFO.
The included continental breakfast was very good - cereals, muffins, croissants, danishes, apples -certainly enough to get you started.
They offer valet parking at $27 a night - well after all its downtown SF.
One block walk to Powell street cable car. 3 blocks to Union Sq. and 4 blocks to Macy's. No problem walking around - just a few rubies, but you see them just everywhere.
Pricing was reasonable for the quality and location.

Room Tip: Would suggest as high as possible and certainly not by the elevator.
