“Amazing hotel and FREE WINE!”
Reviewed 16 December 2013

Stayed here for New Year during a quick 2 day visit to San Fancisco with the trouble and strife. Hotel itself was great with friendly and informative staff, a great location, and free wine to get us started for an evening of celebrations.

Was fantasic value for money in a great location and would stay here again.

So thoroughly thrilled that we did NOT select the Fisherman's Wharf area for our lodging because the Galleria Park hotel is in the BEST location hands down. We are a family of three (includes an 8 year old) and we felt instantly "at home" at this hotel, finding it to be intimate, historic yet modern, comfortable and exceptionally convenient. This is not a cookie cutter property. Yes it has old world quirky character including some amazing marble stairways but it has been retrofitted and artfully designed to meet current day needs. Best part - it is walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown, and steps from ALL public transportation. We were not bothered by noise even though this was Black Friday weekend and our corner room faced Kearny & Sutter. Perfect because the view was classic!! Oh and this was our FIRST San Fran trip. We would not hesitate to return to the Galleria Park. Amazing experience, gracious staff, ideally situated ... it met our expectations and then some!! Hope to return AND take advantage of outdoor terrace next time!!!

Room Tip: Corner suites are exceptional & will afford more space. Higher floor room may minimize street n...

This was our second visit to the Galleria Park Hotel and we were not disappointed. The Executive King rooms are large, especially for San Francisco hotels, and comfortable. The disadvantage is that they face Kearny Street, and there is traffic noise all day and night (the hotel staff will give you earplugs!). The front desk staff and the valets/bell men are helpful and friendly. The wine hour is a wonderful late afternoon offering. There are many good restaurants and tourist sites within walking distance. There are two negatives: the housekeeping is inconsistent, some days much more thorough than others, and the parking is very expensive (not unexpected in San Francisco).
Nevertheless, we will certainly return a third time!

Stayed 2 nights in December in this quaint hotel. Location is great to the BART, bus stops and shopping. Room is spacious enough for me and more importantly quiet (could hear noise of other guests outside occasionally but still slept very peacefully through the night), clean and comfortable. I like the fact that they had a stand-up shower instead of a tub. Nice ameneties. Shower water should be a little hotter though. Heater is sufficient for December in SF. Staff are friendly and morning coffee/tea is great, just wished they had some pastries/bread like the Andrew's Hotel I stayed previously. Wi-fi is fast enough for me. Walk-in closet had no light and canabalised room space.

Green Features: Decline Housekeeping to get a 1 Litre bottle of water!

A wonderful hotel, great staff, perfect location, lovely appointments and cool vibe: I recommend the Galleria Park Hotel to travelers who love historic and well cared for properties. I have never been disappointed by this hotel and I love to be able to walk out and catch a street car on Market Street or walk up to California Street to take the Cable Car up Nob Hill. There are some very good restaurants nearby too like "Claude" and Belden Place, especially "Brindisi". I was sorry to see the Jazz Club close just around the corner called "Oz." Maybe there will be another one to replace it. Union Square is nearby as well and check out the secret garden on top of the Galleria!

Room Tip: I always ask for a tub.

But why all the super high ratings? The rooms feel like those small Victorians you rent right out of college, with pipes that clang, musty closets, and windows that let in all the siren and car alarm sounds. That being said, the location is great, the lobby is chic, and the bathrooms have nice, modern finishes.

Stayed week of Thanksgiving. Hotel is walking distance to Bart and local buses. Very friendly staff, clean comfortable room. Nice toiletries.
Reasonably priced restaurants in the area, Chipolte, Uncle Vitos pizza (few blocks north) were both good. As was the coffee shop next door to the hotel.

Room Tip: Inside rooms are obviously quieter but we had 2 street side rooms on the 8th floor and the noise w...
