The decor is very old. Lift can only hold 4 people even though there is space for 8! Suspect the pulley is antiquated.

The curtains are frayed and couldn't shut properly. I need to use chairs to prop against the curtains to hold it down.

Although old, the state of the room is clean and rather polite service from the staff (considering hotel is located right in Chinatown). Fantastic location obviously with many eateries nearby.

I'd recommend it for friends but not for couples.

Ok so we new it wasn't the Ritz, we just needed a base for 3 nights whilst here and in that respect it did the job perfectly. Literally just inside the Chinatown gate and about 3 blocks from Union Square with great transport facilities nearby and lots to see and do however the rooms were very small and also a bit noisy due to thin walls but if you just want a base like we did then it was perfect. The WiFi by the way was not only free but quite fast !

Stayed in a double room with twin bed. The room was ok, but no view at all. Ok warderobe and a little table and a ok bathroom. Nothing more nothing less. What you cam expect for a two star hotel. The location was very good. Close to at least 3-4 breakfast places. Good area just a step in in Chinatown. Pretty close to Bart, underground and trams and busses. If i go to SF again i will consider another stay.

In SFO, this hotel offers a good ratio quality/price. We stayed there for 3 nights over a week-end, Our rooms (x2) were small but clean. We have never been bothered by the noise either from people in the corridor or from the street. Nothing looks really modern there but for the price we paid, we had all the necessary and useful ammenities. The plus is its location at the gate of Chinatown, close to Market street or Powell station. I will keep this adress in my hotel list.

The room was basic but clean. No air conditioning and very poor air circulation in the room.
The hotel is located centrally in Chinatown, with good street lighting at night. Lots of great restaurants nearby, and relatively close to union square (pick up point for a lot of tours).

First the good things. Location. This hotel is located a block inside the Chinatown gate. This was a great location, pretty central to attractions. We do a lot of walking when exploring a city, so it was nice to be able to walk to Union Square, Little Italy and transportation. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Before we arrived, we called and asked for a quite room and was given one on the backside of the building. The window was frosted, so there was no view to see. As for the room we had. We were not very impressed. It was clean, but that was the only good thing. The room was very small and dated. There was only a double bed, a very small desk and chair. We stayed for 4 nights and had to live out of our suitcases since there weren't any drawers to put our clothes in. No central air, the window is your air-conditioning. For the most part this wasn't a problem the room was cool enough. The bathroom was big enough, but the shower was tiny. Ladies, it's not easy to shave your legs when you have to twist into a pretzel to make it happen. The floor was clean I'm sure, but it was so old that I didn't feel comfortable walking on it without shoes on. The room was quiet from street noise, but inside noise was quite annoying. The wall between us and another room was so thin I could hear the other couple talking. I couldn't make out was said, but it was quite loud. We had a kid upstairs that liked to run around the room and jump off the bed. That's not the hotels fault I know, but it would have probably been less noisy at a newer hotel. I have read that they do have some updated rooms, so I would ask for one of them if booking this hotel. If we could get an updated room, we would consider this hotel again for the price and location.

The location is great, right at the entrance of Chinatown, a few minutes walk from the center and major public transportation. Wish there was a breakfast included and fridge in the room, but except that, it is really great value for the price we paid.
