The staff are friendly, the rooms comfortable and hotel feels magnificent. We upgraded to the queen bridge view and were glad we did. The bridge looks great at night and the double windows ensured a good night sleep. Drinks at 5 & cookies at 9.

Stayed 2 nights in a queen room. Very nicely appointed room. Room and shower are smallish (as are many SFO hotel room), but more than enough room for 2. Contemporary furnishings in the room, bed very comfortable. The location of this hotel is great. Valet Parking is $54 per night. Very friendly service from all personnel at the hotel. Nice coffee in the morning and Beer and Wine reception in the afternoon. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: I used the Baseball for All promotion for when the Giants are playing a home game for a better rate.

Stayed at this lovely hotel in March, meeting up with other family members (who were staying at two other hotels). As has been my experience with all Kimpton properties, the hotel was nicely appointed, and comfortable.

Since the hotel was converted from a former YMCA boarding facility, the rooms were rather small; a larger room would've garnered an "Excellent" rating. We paid a modest premium for a "bay view" room, which afforded us a view of the Embarcadero as well as the new Bay Bridge with a stunning nighttime light show.

The hotel is a short distance from the Ferry Building (we parked in Larkspur and took the SF Ferry to SF -- also recommended). There is also a local grocery store a block away to grab some munchies or beverages (an alternative to the in-room honor bar).

Staff was very courteous and friendly; the front desk clerk called the room after check-in to see if everything was OK with the room. The hotel offers a "happy hour" with complementary wine and beer for guests of the hotel.

Room Tip: Bay-side view rooms are definitely worth it --

We stayed here on a gift certificate from a charity dinner. Our daughter was celebrating her 21st birthday and from the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more accommodating. The location is excellent as well.

Take advantage of the complimentary bikes and tour the Embarcadero all the way to Fishermans Wharf.

Great value and service!

I had a great experience with this hotel a couple of weeks ago. The service is exemplary: fast check-in, check-out, greeting, baggage storage, wine hour, and they helped me recharge my phone a bit before my departure.

The room had a very comfortable bed and was quiet. The free Wi-Fi was quite fast, so there was no need to pay for an upgrade. One downside was that the room was very small (that didn't matter to me because my days away from the room were quite long) and, since I paid the lowest rate on Expedia, I of course got the room with a backyard view.

The hotel is a short walk from Embarcadero and everything (transportation, restaurants, etc.) that is described as being close to Embarcadero, so I recommend this hotel if you look for alternatives to more expensive luxury hotel chains.

I've always liked Kimpton hotels and this one fit the bill as all the others have. Located in the Embarcadero this hotel is located to the streetcars, Bart and the ferry terminal with all of its of restaurants and food shops. The room was lovely and cozy. My only complaint was it faced an alley instead of the Bay Bridge as we had hoped. Hotel staff were exceedingly pleasant and well informed about the city. Room rates were pretty much in line with San Francisco.
