“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Friends had suggested Fishermans Wharf area as a good base and they were correct, hotel really is in the best location for San Francisco Pier 39 and the Alcatraz Cruise (Pier 33), some shopping and loads of restaurants etc. Getting to it was a bit of a problem as we hadn't realised it was Memorial Day so the roads were exceptionally busy, they are busy generally though. Parking is on site, which is good, BUT the $40 per day charge IS NOT - we knew we would have to pay for parking but hadn't expected it to be that steep and it wasn't mentioned on the website I booked through, just said a 'parking fee' SO BEWARE.
Once you get over that, the hotel check in was very smooth, room very clean but room had standard double beds, not ideal when 3 are sharing. We overlooked the pool which was nice but that is at the front of the hotel which, for obvious reasons, can get a bit noisy from traffic. Hubby went to the 'gym' but it really is very small and basic, you won't get a great workout here.
Would recommend it for location and cleanliness, you may find alternatives where the parking charge is not so high.

Room Tip: Try for the back and don't get a standard double as they are a bit on the small side.

We stayed here as part one of our honeymoon. Looked great when we got dropped off, new looking and nice fresh reception area, however we were not staying in that building! We booked in and then got sent back out on to the street told to go round to the corner to another building, clearly the older one. We can't complain though, it was a place to sleep and it was clean and tidy. Just don't expect the nice looking building you see in the photos.

It was a great location, close to fishermans wharf, we walked in to union square ( we got the cable cat back).

Nice place for a short break or few nights away.

Before I start, remember this Hotel is in Fisherman's Wharf, and if you want a hotel here, expect to pay a premium!

This hotel is pretty much what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn: Clean and comfortable, but unspectacular.

The hotel is in a very good location in Fisherman's Wharf, literally minutes from the main tourist areas. I accept what some reviewers have said about the homeless people in the streets around the hotel, but sadly this is common almost everywhere in San Francisco, and I found they never harrassed or threatened you.

The staff at the hotel are all very friendly and helpful.

My hotel room was on the 5th (top) floor, on the pool size (tiny pool btw, more like a hottub). I did hear the cars revving in the alley behind that other reviewers commented on one night, but it wasn't too loud where my room was. I imagine it may have been an issue elsewhere in the hotel though

I only ate breakfast at the restaurant but was disappointed: overpriced, and the breakfast buffet had limited options. on the 2nd occasion I ate here, the hot buffet was lukewarm at best. They do however, serve proper thick sausages, and they do have a waffle toaster! The staff are both friendly and very efficient.

The gift shop is small, has very limited stock, and is once again, expensive. You are far better off going to Walgreen's around the corner

This is right on Fisherman's Wharf with all the hop on hop off buses and trolleys right outside the door. It's also only a short walk to Pier 39, Ghiradelli Square and cable cars. We stayed in the new Wharf building so everything lovely and new. Be warned though that there is no mini fridge unless you pay to hire one. It's also in the next block to the main reception so be careful where you park your car or you'll be dragging your luggage all the way. Our reservation sheet gave us the address of the main building on Columbus so we checked in there and paid our parking fee of USD 45.60 then parked the car thinking we were in that building. On checking the map realised that we actually had to cross the street to get to the other building which was no fun with lots of luggage and 2 small children. When we got to the Wharf building we saw that they have their own reception. Would've been nice to be told that from the start! Rooms are fairly standard but quite comfortable. We got a decent rate so were very happy with our stay. There is a Denny's down the bottom of the Wharf building but I don't rate it very highly (standard Denny's food). You definitely don't need a car to stay here and why pay such expensive parking rates. Use the trolleys to travel all around for only $2 and you can even transfer. Avis and Hertz are right across the street so you can drive to San Francisco if you need to and then return your hire car and walk back to your room. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If you're overlooking the wharf it can be quite noisy with the trolleys going past all night.

We totally PAID for our stay at the Holiday Inn San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf on booking and our only payment due was parking yet they reserved over $700USD on a card of mine that was holding my prepaid US$. At no stage was I informed that $$ would be "reserved" on my card. The $$ were reserved for 3 days after we left the hotel and were only freed up after I contacted my card provider to find out why my card was bounced at the next stay. This practice is wrong and should not be allowed.
Our stay was comfortable and the hotel is well located but everything was over shadowed by this disgraceful practice.

Typical Holiday Inn accomodations, but you can not beat the location.
Easy access to public transporation and walking distance to attractions.
We were not happy with daily parking fee, but not unusual for area.
We would stay again and recommend to others.

Standard Hotel, very clean, great price point. The best part was the location. Just around the corner from the Wharf. The hop-on-hop-off bus is only a few steps away. Was great to be able to head to a from our room so quickly between tours and meals. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Basic rooms but very clean. The hallways are long so if you have mobility issues, ask for a room clo...
