“Bike Parking extortionate”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We stopped here for three nights during a 4 week trip around the West Coast. The hotel is in an ideal location to see all of San Francisco.

There was a bit of a faff booking in as the room wasn't ready as we had arrived early as we had miscalculated how long the journey to get there on a motorbike would take. We were sent off and told to return at 3pm when the room would be ready. We weren't too happy as we were in motorcycle leathers, they did at least offer to store our luggage until we returned.

We were offered parking at $45 per day plus tax. How they can charge this is beyond me. It was only after walking around that we realised that there are loads of places to park that would definitely cost less than $45, but when you are riding in heavy traffic on roads you don't really think to look elsewhere for other options.

We got back at 2:50pm and were told by a very stern receptionist that the room still wasn't ready. It seemed as if we were asking for too much to get into the room 10 mins early.

There is no breakfast option with this hotel even though there is a 24hr Dennys within the hotel.

What they also don't tell you is if you pay by card, they will hold $100 on your card for any 'sundry' items. This was not mentioned when we booked in & when I checked my credit card account, I found the day after they had taken a further $80, even though the first $100 had not been touched. When I asked the receptionist about the amounts, she said that all hotels 'hold' money against the room in case of room service or similar. But this was the first hotel that did this and we'd stopped in a few by then. The money did eventually go back onto the card, but as we were using a pre-loaded card, it meant that we had to wait several days before the funds were available for us to spend.

All in all, an OK hotel in a good location for sightseeing. However, I feel that it is over-priced for what you get and if you are considering booking this hotel, I'd research other parking options before you get there.

A perfectly adequate hotel in an ideal location. Staff were polite and helpful. Room was quite small and dark but adequate and comfortable. Very clean bathroom. Parking was very expensive I had expected it to be included. We didn't eat in the hotel as breakfast wasn't included either. Perfectly situated for exploring Fishermans wharf.

We have just completed out holiday and spent the last few days at this hotel. We found the staff very friendly and the rooms very clean and comfortable. We were on the 3rd floor and did find the traffic noise slightly annoying but nothing that would prevent me from staying there again. Very close to Fisherman's Wharf and plenty of transport options to see the rest of the city. The only complaint would be the cost of parking. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to other people wanting a clean, friendly hotel near the wharf.

The fishermans wharf hotel was an ideal location being close to the bay, wharf and trollies.
We we're put in the block over the road and it wasn't an issue and was clean and quiet.
We tried the hotel bar but we had to track down the bar man as he had his nose in his iPhone, hidden away - poor service in a busy bar as we felt we had put him out.
Things nobody told me about the hotel and area
1. The other block is ok
2. It is California's but it's COLD take jumpers and coats
3. Denny's 24/7 is ok but go 1 block and try joanies happy days diner
4. All the local bars are great - when did America discover beer - and the bar staff were Irish, English or Italian - great
5.beggars - come on San Francisco if you wash the streets then you can deal with these poor souls - ex servicemen with begging dogs
Can't wait to go back and we will stay at the holiday inn

The staff are a definite bonus at this hotel. Very friendly and more than willing to go the extra mile to give advice. Rooms were ok, beds were a little soft. Hotel is very central to many of the attractions at Fisherman's Wharf. Parking was easy but costly.

When we reserved rooms at this hotel, there was no mention of the second Building (the Wharf Building) that was a part of this hotel. After we parked at the Columbus street main building, and checked in, we were told we had to carry our luggage about a block and a half to another building. The other building was OK, but if the hotel was going to send us to another location, luggage service certainly should have been offered and complimentary. The rooms were average, and definitely overpriced. The hotel restaurant in the Wharf Building is a Denny's.

Room Tip: Make sure to get as room in the Columbus Street Building, not the Wharf Building.

Hello, Thank you so much for staying with us as well as posting your thoughts on your stay. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. I am sorry you did not find the Wharf building to your liking as it is the newer building and the rooms are a bit larger. Again thank you for staying as well as posting your thoughts
