“Just for the area.”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

We stayed here to be near all the cafés and eating places. The wharf gets very busy so we got to the early sitting in restaurants so as not to wait. The hotel is very typical Holiday Inn but it suits a short stay in a central area.

Fantastic location within the city. Rooms are large with a large bathroom. Decor slightly dated, rooms slightly musty. But all in all I would stay here again. The room we had wasn't too noisy. Car parking is minimal but we got a space. Hotel even held to the earthquake we had whilst staying here.

Hotel was clean and in a good location. Breakfast is complimentary but just like a cafeteria with not much of a range. Given that it is included in your accommodation it's quite satisfactory to get you started for your day ahead.

Good location. Clean comfortable rooms. Staff friendly and helpful. We had to get 2 rooms as there are five of us, staff managed to ensure rooms were near each other but feel hotel of this size should have been able to provide us with interconnecting rooms. Restaurant boring, breakfast expensive. Rooms overlooking road noisy. Best rooms are the internal ones.

Really a bit worn and overused and definitely very expensive but you are paying for the location. Otherwise I would not recommend it, but convenient location was what we were after. Since there are NO restrooms available in the area due to abuse by the abundant homeless population, we appreciated having a facility in the neighborhood. We asked for a quiet room and that's what we got. Loved waking up to the sound of seagulls. Housekeeping staff was nice and helpful, as were the front desk ladies.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room; worked for us

Hotel ideal location for FW. Hotel itself is a bit souless and could do with a bar with some atmosphere. Walkable to pier 39 and Alcatraz. Would definitely stay again, great little diner round the corner which has brilliant breakfast although you have to be in early or prepare to queue.

For an extra $20 a night we should have stayed somewhere else. Housekeeping was ridiculous. On the 2nd night there was zero shampoo, no wash cloths (which we just used hat morning), and they took the extra pillow we requested the night before. Housekeeping did not bother to answer the phone after three different calls for a replacement. And to this the fact that you get to sleep on a box spring for a mattress, and this was certainly not a pleasant stay. The floor was no even clean.

You get what you pay for unfortunately.
