As I said in the title, it is a great hotel for the money and it's located in the center of an expanding area of downtown. They have a contintntal braekfast included as well

Room Tip: I like a higher room so that you don't have street noises.

This is the 3rd of the 3 hotels I stayed at during my week in San francisco for memorial day weekend and a medical confence. Tripadvisor reviews always influence my choice of hotels (only failed me once, now I know to look at most recent reviews AND ratio of good and bad reviews).

I cannot say anything bad about the very friendly service at this hotel and the staff made me feel very welcome during the whole stay. Rooms are smaller than most of the hotel rooms that I have stayed in, but is very clean. Shower may not be too comfortable for taller guests. Rooms are similar to what you would see in Europe, in terms of the size.

Centrally located in union square, within walking distance to the convention center, BART, F train (classic streetcar that takes you from the Fisherman's wharf to the Castro). A lot of places to eat nearby.

Enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Get a room with a private bath. Unless you dont mind the shared/ dorm type concept.

I have just returned from a week at the Mosser in San Francisco. I read many reviews before I left and the only negative anyone came up with was the room size. OK, they are not huge but why do you need a huge room if you're only sleeping there? Beds and towels changed as often as you want. Great staff, amazing location. Clean, super-comfortable beds. Cannot fault it at all. And on top of this, a central location for such good value.
Would 110% return!

Room Tip: Pay that little more for your own bathroom. It's worth it!

Pros--immaculately clean. I mean spotless. 1890's charm out the ying yang. Fresh paint everywhere. Someone is sinking some serious cash into fixing up the joint. Front desk staff and that security guy out front were really nice people. Good location.

Cons--at least in my room on the eighth floor in the corner, which I think was probably one of the nicest rooms in the Mosser, no internet, no desk, no air-conditioning. No place to buy a bit of toothpaste or a late-night vino downstairs. The room was not much bigger than my double bed and the euro chair and bed stand they managed to squeeze in there was IKEA quality. Pretty much just a bed with a very nice flat screen TV on the wall, and a micro bathroom. I have no idea where someone gets a bathroom sink that small. Yes, I had one of the rooms with a private bath. S-l-o-w elevator, only one; slow because that great house-keeping and maintenance crew are using it all day. Room was too bright to get a good night's sleep.

No business office downstairs. No pool. No fitness center. No room service. $200+ a night, but everyone had high prices that weekend. Bay-to-Breakers marathon, a ginormous medical convention in town, etc.

Take home: if you just need a pied-a-terre in San Fran, and can sleep with your buddy/spouse on a double bed, and a fairly bright room even with the lights off doesn't bother you, great. If you are in San Fran on business and need a desk and internet, not so great.

I did like that my window opened all the way, and I could climb out onto the hinky balcony and chill while overlooking the urban landscape. Kind of a cool city-kid experience. But I was concerned that that the homeless dudes on the street and in the alley under the window, if desparate enough, could make their way up the fire escape. Next time, since I'm a business traveler, it will be the Marriott, or whatever it is, across the street.

As a frequent visitor to San Francisco I have been a guest at the Mosser for over 25 years.Sure the rooms with shared bath are small but really how much time do you spend in your room? After all you are in San Francisco!!! Get out and enjoy.Location is perfect with many destinations within walking distance and if not BART,buses, trains, trolleys, cable cars are nearby.
The staff of long time employees,Kevin,Joe,Janice,Mary and Tim have all been excellent in customer service. Also the cleaning staff is ready to accomadateyou if you need extra towels, soap, etc.
I have seen many changes and upgrades at the Mosser over the years and I must say each one has been a great improvement.
ENJOY YOUR STAY AT THE MOSSER. D.W. Peace, Springfield, Missouri

This was the perfect stay for our trip to San Fran, rooms are small but we were never in the room left early came in late just a place to sleep. Staff was friendly. The location is perfect, within steps to the Bart and MUNI. Union square two blocks away. Perfect if your young like us and just looking for a decent place to stay, very affordable compared to other hotels in the area.
