“Not bad at special price and with excellent earplugs”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

It was not bad for the general comfort and the staff. However, I would have really appreciated a better insonorisation. It was so noisy. That's why it's really difficult to recommend it to any of me friend. I understand I paid a reasonnable special price (on sale about 80$/night), but I don't think I would have been more appreciative if I had paid the regular price for it... Otherwise, if you are used to the city and guests' noise, it's a good location.

I was there for a week (conference). The hotel is very well located. Friendly staff and clean rooms. I got the option with shared bathroom. To be honest, when I got there, the first impression wasn't the best mostly because I was expecting a bigger place and felt a little odd. However, it was just my impression. When I "got used to" the place, it became a great choice. The bathrooms are very maintained. I never found anyone using it when I needed it. Good shower, so no complains about this option. I was a little unsure in the beginning, but it worked out very well. My husband was considering joining me in this trip, and considering the size of the room, I'm glad he didn't! The room and the bed were small. If you are travelling accompanied, make sure you get a "normal"sized room/bed.
They offer a simple breakfast (fruits, muffins, coffee, tea); the hotel is located very close to some restaurants, shops (Target), and major public transportation routes (take the BART from the airport. It costs less than $10 and you arrive less than a block away).
Overall, it was a very good place to stay.

Loved this Victorian style hotel! Found it through an extensive google search. I'm a college student so can't afford the typical $300 a night hotel that sf usually offers; I paid $120 for a night here. From the valet to customer service rep to house keeping everyone was friendly and helpful! Room was sort of small but really didn't bother my boyfriend and I. Might be a problem if you're staying a week or so, but a few days would be fine. The entrance and staircase seem Victorian, but lobby and rooms are more modern. Room was clean, decorated sleek and minimal. Had a dorm-style bathroom to share with a couple other rooms but I not once encountered another person, though I'm sure they were booked because it was a Saturday and lobby was full. It was clean and not far from my room. Quiet, great location. Only a fifteen minute walk to the ballpark to see the Giants! Our encounters at several restaurants were greeted with poor service. This hotel was a pleasant surprise, and an amazing find for my budget. Will definitely return. Thanks Mosser!

Every time I come to SF, I stay in this hotel. My company hosted a trade show at the Marriott across the street. It was super easy to run across the street several times during the day and to run to do some shopping on breaks. The location is PERFECT!

I am eager to stay here again........

Date of stay: Several times since 2005

“I almost hate to give away my ‘secret place.’ TheMosser is an independent family-owned property in the heart of SFO.
Located on 4th Street at Market, directly across from the Marriott, but
at about one third the cost. It’s a very short walk to the BART and cable
car turn-around. But best of all, it provides a safe and welcome respite
after a long day of hiking those hills. As a single, female traveler, I
always feel safe there. The doorman and reception staff are friendly and
helpful. The rooms are quiet and clean. The hotel is eco-friendly and
nonsmoking, and very "family friendly". You can get en suite or down-the-hall bath, and robes are in your room. The morning coffee is divine.
Next time you are in the City by the Bay, give the Mosser a try.But don’t tell anyone.)”

Other information: The hotel has 112 deluxe rooms and 54 rooms with
a shared hall bath. Originally opened in 1913 as the Keystone Hotel,
this historic property underwent a major renovation in 2003.

Room Tip: Several times I've taken a room with bath down the hall. The shower room is clean and I never f...

i have stayed at the mosser twice and found it on both occasions to be have gr8 value, location and service. the staff was very responsive to me when my needs changed and after inadvertently checking out and leaving my phone charger in the room, i received a cheerful phone call about 30 minutes later informing of this at which point they put it with my checked/stored bags.

on both occasions i chose the shared bathroom rooms and facilities were always clean when visited. their single room was a nice, surprise value as the bed is actually a full-size bed! location is close to convention center, great dining and nightclubs. will come again =)

Room Tip: if you are a light sleeper, it can be somewhat noisy but there are earplugs provided in your room
