“Great Stay”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Good price even during the marathon, good customer service from front desk to bell hop concierge, clean rooms friendly staff, great location. Good coffee in the morning and muffins. Close to everything you want in San Fran, F train that will take you around the piers, the trolly, public transit that can take you every where else, all good!
Thanks for everything! And hope to stay there again.

Room Tip: Nice view the higher you go and maybe a bit quieter. Remember your staying downtown it wont be quite...

I keep coming back here for work. I started in the single room and have even stayed in the executive suite.

The hotel service has never disappointed me and the rooms have always been cozy.

Staff has been super nice as well!

On my last particular visit, I brought my wife and 3 month old baby. He enjoyed the huge bed and colorful pillows, while my wife enjoyed the view which overlooked the city below towards the direction of the Metreon. (This was the vantage point from the Executive Suite)

My previous review is rather lengthy so I will keep this short. Honestly, this has to be the best bargain in town. I wish I could remember the guy who checked me in as he went above and beyond. And early check-in, I got to my room only to discover that it was directly opposite the ice machine. If you read my older review, you'll note the noise of this sucker. And, it was the same (same floor too!). So, I asked to be moved, happy to wait for a normal check-in. He found several options and when I returned, was moved just around the corner, and it was a great stay. Room 805 I believe. This was a little roomier as it had a bit of a corner to it, so the sink is out of the way, and there was actually a deep-enough closet.

I don't know how they can offer such low rates, but this is a keeper. Clean, well-staffed, central location... Can't ask for more!

Room Tip: Need quiet? Ask to be located away from the ice machines and service areas. Also, 8th floor facing t...

The good: great location for shoppers and restaurants, all within walking distance. The Westfield center is a large indoor mall (just around the corner) surrounding Bloomingdales with a few hundred other stores...well worth a visit. The staff is very friendly, especially the cleaning crew! If you're going to park, just do the valet service, as the garage below the hotel has no deal with them and you'll end up spending more money. Breakfast (coffee and muffins) is OK.

The bad: the rooms are very small, barely fits the bed. We came with our 9 month old and we're quite cramped. Not recommended for families. The nightstand is in the perfect spot for cracking one's head when waking up (as my wife did 3 times). The elevator is old and slow...get some exercise and take the stairs whenever possible. If you get a room not at the front of the hotel, make sure it's above the 5th floor, if you want to see anything other than a brick wall out your window.

Room Tip: Upper floors on the outside walls are best for a view of the city. Spend the extra money for the ro...

The Mosser is great, as long as you know what you're getting into before you get there. The rooms are SMALL, I mean they're really small. My room had a queen sized bed that literally took up 70% of the floor area. It also had a flat screen TV, a bay window with bench, a small desk and office chair. With two of us in the room, it was tight. All that said, the room was nicely appointed. The furnishings were modern. The bathroom, although small, was perfect for what we required. Remember, it's San Francisco, how much are you really going to be in your hotel room?

The best part about the Mosser is the location. Close to everything a tourist could want. Walkable to Union Square, close to the Powell Muni Rail/BART station, just easy in easy out no matter where we were going. The location is why I give it 4 instead of 3 stars. All told, the rooms are small, but they're nicely appointed, and they are more than made up for by the great price, the great location, and the good service.

As a fairly frequent traveller Ive stayed in my share of "get them at every turn" hotels. Where everything is upcharged, everything is extra. Well not here at the Mosser my friends. The staff is delightful, helpful, and not overbearing. They are discrete and demure. It was a pleasant stay from top to bottom, The hotel is renovated and clean but maintains the charm of the old time San Fran architecture without overshadowing it. Location is perfect. About two miles from the waterfront, smack next to Union Square shopping. Restaurants were probably the only thing I didnt see a ton of directly adjacent to the place but again no worries and nothing a quick cab ride cant fix. I walked easily to the Ferry Building for some gourmet treats straight from local purveyors. I also walked through China Town and on down to pier 39 without much effort. Great opportunity to see the sights while I was at it. All in all for the value and location, there is no better or more efficient choice for a traveller more interested in sights and activities than an en suite bathroom. I stayed two nights this round and it will now be my only choice and recommend for friends visiting the area. Things to consider: maybe not the best place for small childrem, rooms do not offer space enough for familes with young ones. If you are travelling with pretens or teens this is a perfect set up as rates are friendly enough to get them their own rooms. Couples are a great fit here as well as business travellers.

The Mosser is a favorite hotel near Union Square in San Francisco -- I have been staying @ The Mosser for 10 plus years........WHY?: It is about the staff!!
General Manager Kevin Bazant has been in residence since I began staying @ the hotel - Kevin is the consummate professional - The Customer is Queen! King! -- no matter what.........Kevin's smile glows and he role models an upbeat - "can do" attitude to his staff @ the desk -- housekeeping -- bell services -- Alfredo and Mary greet me @ 6 a.m. -- I'm on Manhattan time -- with hot coffee and tasty muffins baked by Annabelle's - next door -- Bella - Queen of The Mosser has been with the Mosser 25 years - she, too, role models: "can do" - upbeat happy smiles -- Nish has been promoted to Front Desk Manager -- and just watch his quiet efficiency no matter how many folks are in the lobby looking for services -- Joe @ the Bell Stand and Jessee @ the front desk -- too are helpful, efficient, customer driven. I love the Mosser because of its people who create and indulging environment catering to the diversity of guests who travel globally!
