“Good price and clean!”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

The hotel is old and follows the european approach with extremely small rooms and if lucky small bathroom in your room. Make sure you ask before you book the room if you want a private bath. The room was clean and the guy was cleaning the elevator every morning when I got coffee. Fresh fruit would have made the breakfast a little more bearable but the coffee was good and the muffins adequate. Location was close to Union square. A tip to travelers don't wait in the line at the cable car turnaround on Powell Street, walk up the block to the next pick up spot (find the sign) they leave the turnarounds 1/2 full and pick up a few passengers at each stop. The only downfall to the hotel was parking and the price of $39.00 per day is criminal. They alleged it was for unlimited exits but we never touched the car for 3 days. If you are planning for a longer time frame the room would have been to small but it was ok for three days. The price was much lower (even with bathroom) then any other hotel in the area ($200 per night) PS AVOID the TENDERLOIN District very dangerous and lots of crappy hotels. We drove through on our bus tour which we ended up using like a taxi to get around the city. You can get it at Union Sq.

Room Tip: Get one at the end of the hallway away from the common bathrooms.

We were staying three nights in San Francisco before heading on up to Sonoma for a nascar race. We picked the Mosser based on location and price. Price because we only needed a place to sleep at night because our plan was to see as much of SF as possible in the short time we were there. Location because it is centrally located to everything including trolleys, cable cars and the subway. These rooms have no air conditioning but we certainly didn't need it! We opened the window in the morning so that we could hear the sounds of the city. It was amazing! We loved the Mosser for its quaint character. Our room was small and bathroom even smaller but it served our needs amazingly well. We would certainly stay here again if returning to San Francisco.

Hotel is in a very good location. Bart from the airport stops around the corner. Hotel staff friendly and informative. Plenty of shops and restaurants close by. Good WiFi connection in hotel room. Muffins and coffee until 10.00 a.m It would have been nice to have coffee at other times. Room was clean but very very small for the price (smaller than any shown on the web site) gave average due to this.

No major complaints but wasn't overwhelmed by this hotel. Apparently we were lucky with our room to have a bathroom included. A lot of the rooms don't have bathrooms. It is an old hotel but the room we had was very modern and clean (very small but really nice). There is a lot of noise of doors banging and people walking up and down stairs as the walls are paper thin. They say complementary breakfast included, which consists of cupcakes/muffins & tea/coffee facilities placed on a small table at the reception. Only way of enjoying this limited breakfast is to stand at reception in the middle of the hallway or to take it back to the room. Wifi was good and the location is excellent.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with a bathroom included

I stayed in SF for 6 nights for a middle size conference in Moscone West centre.

The hotel is a little bit old. You can hear the sound clearly when people going down the stairway. I stayed in room 213 in second floor.

The major drawback of the hotel is that some guest rooms do not have toilet and bathroom facilities. Even worse is that rooms with or without toilet facilities are mixed in the same floor. (Before I go, I thought that the rooms in higher floor are deluxe and have own bathrooms while the lower floor rooms don't). Although I stayed in a room with toilet/ bathroom, my neighbors came out every hour to fulfill their physiology need! The banging of doors make me sleepless in the whole night. Don't forget to bring your ear plug !! I saw the toilet was out of order in one of the morning and people need to go one floor up !!

There is complementary continental breakfast on a table in ground floor each morning. Amount is plenty but choice are limited. You can enjoy your breakfast either standing or take back the cakes / donuts back to your room. Of course you can also sit in the sofa chair in the lobby for breakfast.

The good point is the price (hotel is very expansive in SF downtown), the close proximity to conference centre (5 min walk), complimentary wifi with good rate of connection and helpful staff.

I recommend the hotel only to those who come alone but not with their kids. I want to give 3.5 stars, slightly better than average.

Room Tip: Please ask for high floor or a room far from public toilet or bathroom.

The hotel is very good located. Shops, restaurants and cinemas are in walking distance. The staff is friendly. The transport from the airport is very easy. (BART station around the corner) The small rooms are nice and clean.

My husband & I rarely bring our car (or rental) to SF, just because parking is expensive and hard to find. Plus this city is great for pedestrians and public transportation. Having said that, staying in a hotel close to public transportation access is a must criteria for us. The Mosser is certainly it for great location. The room is small, modern, simple & cute, bathroom is clean, bed is comfy and clean.
The room only has fan & heater. SF in most times (even summer) is quite chilly & breezy, however, during one of the rare occasion of heat wave, it could get quite warm in a small room, even with the fan on.
All in all, we had a pleasant stay at The Mosser, and will be back for the 3rd time and more!
