The Mosser
Ranked #90 of 231 Hotels in San Francisco
Reviewed 14 August 2014

I have reviewed this hotel on several occasions, and it is my first choice for the Moscone Center area, thanks to its terrific location, friendly staff and reasonable rates. On my most recent trip, I booked one of the small rooms that don't have bathroom/shower en suite. I wasn't able to get a deluxe room with bath Honestly, I was dreading it a bit, but not willing to change to another hotel for that trip. I am happy to report that the experience was fine. The bathrooms and showers are kept spotless. They were rarely occupied, and when they were, I could just go to one on a floor above or below. The room doesn't have a table or desk, or even a chair. That is the main reason I will still want to get a larger room with bathroom en suite. But if you want the most economical room for a great SF location, the Mosser will not disappoint you.

Stayed here for two nights - it was one of the inexpensive decent looking hotels that we found.
Great location; if you're into the main noisy hustle and bustle.
The room itself was small (smaller than we expected), but it did its job.
Staff members were friendly and really helpful - if you need directions, just ask them and the'll give you a map and they will offer you options as to how to get there.

Stayed in this hotel for one night together with my girlfriend. The rooms were very small, with little space for cases. Nonetheless, the bed was comfortable, room was clean, and the location was excellent, sitting just off of market street.

Good hotel even though the rooms are really tiny.
The location is the best of all....
Only issue was with the bathrooms that were not really working well so had to go to other floors to wash...not ideal but OK.

The hotel is old and follows the european approach with extremely small rooms and if lucky small bathroom in your room. Make sure you ask before you book the room if you want a private bath. The room was clean and the guy was cleaning the elevator every morning when I got coffee. Fresh fruit would have made the breakfast a little more bearable but the coffee was good and the muffins adequate. Location was close to Union square. A tip to travelers don't wait in the line at the cable car turnaround on Powell Street, walk up the block to the next pick up spot (find the sign) they leave the turnarounds 1/2 full and pick up a few passengers at each stop. The only downfall to the hotel was parking and the price of $39.00 per day is criminal. They alleged it was for unlimited exits but we never touched the car for 3 days. If you are planning for a longer time frame the room would have been to small but it was ok for three days. The price was much lower (even with bathroom) then any other hotel in the area ($200 per night) PS AVOID the TENDERLOIN District very dangerous and lots of crappy hotels. We drove through on our bus tour which we ended up using like a taxi to get around the city. You can get it at Union Sq.

Room Tip: Get one at the end of the hallway away from the common bathrooms.

We were staying three nights in San Francisco before heading on up to Sonoma for a nascar race. We picked the Mosser based on location and price. Price because we only needed a place to sleep at night because our plan was to see as much of SF as possible in the short time we were there. Location because it is centrally located to everything including trolleys, cable cars and the subway. These rooms have no air conditioning but we certainly didn't need it! We opened the window in the morning so that we could hear the sounds of the city. It was amazing! We loved the Mosser for its quaint character. Our room was small and bathroom even smaller but it served our needs amazingly well. We would certainly stay here again if returning to San Francisco.

Hotel is in a very good location. Bart from the airport stops around the corner. Hotel staff friendly and informative. Plenty of shops and restaurants close by. Good WiFi connection in hotel room. Muffins and coffee until 10.00 a.m It would have been nice to have coffee at other times. Room was clean but very very small for the price (smaller than any shown on the web site) gave average due to this.
