“Nice Hotel, not super impressive but no complaints”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

We stayed in the Le Meridien in Oct. 2013. The hotel is nice and has a very modern and stylish decor. It was clean and the staff was very accommodating. The concierge did very really good job helping us and getting us a room that was thoroughly clean as my wife is hypoallergenic. It is also located in a good location, we were walking distance from Barta and Chinatown.

We happened to find the Le Meridien during a last minute sale on expedia which made the price for three nights almost half the cost of other hotels in the area at that time. Based on that sale, the hotel was an excellent choice and we were happy we got lucky enough to stay there.

However, our friends stayed in a king corner room at the InterContinental San Francisco which normally is around the same price and had a room that was much more open and nicer with a much more impressive view. In addition, the lobby area at the InterContinental was just as nice if not nicer and seemed to have more going on.

If we had to pay normal price for Le Meridien, we would have been very upset that we didn't stay at the InterContinental instead. For what we paid, we were very happy about what we got, but most likely will not stay there again the next time we are in San Francisco.

Room Tip: Definitely try and get a room up high. There was construction and traffic on the street during our v...

Hello and thank you for the feedback. I am happy that you found Le Meriden to be a good value and that our location and decor meet your needs. I was also happy to hear that our staff were helpful and accommodating. Our location is quite different from the InterContinental, being on the top of Nob Hill, their views cannot be beat. I am glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. We will take your comments under consideration as we continually work to improve our guest experience. We hope that you will consider staying with us in the future perhaps if you manage to take advantage of another last minute deal!

We were checking in late at night after a delayed flight. There was no one available to help with our bags or even answer basic questions. The rooms were nice and location was good, but not good enough to offset the disinterested, almost rude service. There are tons of better places to stay in San Francisco.

Hello and thank you for the feedback. I wanted to apologize to you for the lack of service you received when you arrived to our hotel. This is by no means the standard we set at Le Meridien San Francisco and I truly apologize for this. Your satisfaction is very important to us and we try hard to make sure all of our guests have a rewarding stay. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope that despite your comments you will consider staying with us again.

I don't understand the negative reviews of this place, even if they are minimal. Perhaps my opinion is biased, because as a platinum Starwood member they upgraded me to a gorgeous one-bedroom suite with views of the Bay Bridge, the water and downdown. But this place was just really, really nice.

The room was stunning. The fitness center was among the best I've seen in a hotel.

My only complaint would be that the immediate neighborhood leaves a little to be desired -- particularly after dark. BUT the bars and restaurants of North Beach are only a five-minute walk away, the Embarcadero is even closer and there is a BART/Muni station also within five minutes that will take you to most points within city limits and beyond.

The rates at Le Meridien are sometimes a little high, even for my business travel. But I will check them out every time I'm back in San Francisco, hoping they're low enough for me to stay.

Hotel Service was awesome! The room had two great views. The room was very tidy. Nice workout facility. The valet was great. Close to everything (including movie theatre, high end shopping, baseball stadium, great nightlife, unlimited dining choices) Overall great experience. My next romantic escape to the bay will definitely be at the Le Meridien

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room! You get two views of SF!

I have stayed here a handful of times for business. I have been fortunate enough to get a suite each time, so this review is influenced by that. The rooms are modern styled but comfortable, with lots of lighting. The lighting is required because the windows do not flood the room with light. I like the location because it sits on what I consider to be the border between the financial district and the north beach neighborhoods and not that far from the water going east. I prefer staying at this less touristy hotel than similar hotels closet to Union Square.

It recently underwent a renovation down in the lobby and now has a stronger bar with craft cocktails and decent snacks. Kitchen in the bar closes too early for my taste. The staff is quite friendly and the bellmen are quick to grab cars and cabs. I think this place may be a little higher on the price side, but I think you are paying for more space and excellent location.

I would stay here, and I actually give this place more like 4.5 stars.

Room Tip: If you can swing, get the entry level suites

Nice enough hotel, easy to find from subway. Not much in immediate vicinity but lots within 10/15mins walk. Room was fairly big and modern, free wifi included in room and worked well. Was abit overpriced for £120 a night for room only, however the bed was so comfy almost made it worth it!

Overall it was a pleasant stay aside from the employees who were picketing every morning with a megaphone. The hotel upgraded us to the executive floor so we were higher up but could still hear the picketers.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. We absolutely sympathize with you for the early-morning disturbance caused by the protestors during your last stay with us.
Unfortunately, as the protestors have no affiliation with the hotel, we have no control over their actions. The protest was carefully carried out within the letter of the law as set down by both Federal and City ordinances, and we are unable to interfere with the protestors’ legal rights.
Your satisfaction is very important to us and we try hard to make sure all of our guests have a rewarding stay. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope you will consider staying with us again.
