Previous reviews cover the motel and its surroundings. I pretty much agree. At least when the busses pull up to the stop and wait, they shut off their engines. My comments refer more to the restaurant which the desk clerk makes very clear is a separate enterprise - not connected to the motel (actually the manager of the restaurant leases it from the motel owner.) The food is average, the service the same. Prices are reasonable. My problem with the restaurant is their posted hours of operation. Both the website and the signs in the garage state that it is open until 6pm on weekends. They actually close at 5pm on weekends. I found this out to my chagrin when I went down on a Saturday at 5:15pm to order a sandwich to go. Doors locked, lights off. According to the manager, they have never been open until 6pm for the 10+ years they've been there. I suggested they get their act together and change the posted closing time. All I got was excuses for not doing so.

Room Tip: We had room 205 with 2 queens, a refrigerator that needed defrosting and no microwave. If you want to use their kitchenette facilities, you have to let them know so they unlock all the cabinets and there is an extra charge. Carpet wasn't the cleanest and the spreads look like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Bathroom was small but functional and clean. Great shower head but tub drained slowly. The hallway near the elevator has an ingrained rancid bacon smell. MUNI busses end their run across the street. They run 24 hours although only every hour at night. At least they shut off their engines while parked. Other reviewers mention opening windows because of no air conditioning. Come on...S.F. is the air conditioned city. I've live at this end of town half my life and only in September does it get warm enough to open windows unless you're really into fresh air.

We chose to stay here because of the Location Location Location. It is located by the sea and so many great placed to go hiking. The prices are extremely reasonable for staying in the City. Located just up the street from the Legendary Cliff House and such an amazing view. This adorable little find also has parking. No this is not a four star place, but an a great gem of a place. I have recommended this to other friends and family looking to stay in the City. It was clean and spacious, (we don't spend a lot of time in our hotel room when visiting the City.... so much to do outside why spend it in your hotel room). We just love this place and look forward to staying here again. (our visit was over a year ago 2011 but just now getting to the review)

3 of us ladies stayed here from May 9 -15. The rooms were nice and spacious and we certainly made use of the kitchenette. The hotel is unique in it's charm and with 3 of us - definitely affordable. The location was about a few miles away from center city and we used public transportation thanks to our "Muni-passes". We picked up the bus right at the corner and we were the last to get off every night we used it. We did not eat in the restaurant for breakfast because it was a bit pricey. We ate breakfast in our rooms & packed lunchs to take with us every day.

What I liked about the layout of the rooms is that my sleeping area was closed off with a pull-across room seperator from the others so that I could get out & walk earlier then they get up.
The rooms were cleaned and the staff was very good and attentive to requests. I LOVE the location. The area has a great history. The ocean is right across the street & after a short walk you can view the Golden Gate bridge. We were within walking distance of Lands End/Golden Gate park.

The only negative thing is that the little fridge FROZE most things even when set on lowest setting. Don't put lettuce in there - milk & eggs froze also - I have found this a common ailment among mini-fridges in motel/hotels.

If you like different & quirky old charm - come here.

We stayed here 6 nights and found the accomodations clean and spacious. We stayed in room 106. Our room had 2 twin beds, a queen, breakfast table, TV, desk and kitchenette (microwave, sink and fridge). The beds were comfortable, bathroom was renovated nicely with tile and the carpet was clean. We had a nice view of the ocean. The bus line that goes downtown started and ended at the hotel. Our rooms were on the same side of the street as the bus stops but since it was cold outside we didn't leave the windows open at night. We did open them during the evening but the noise wasn't noticable. The rooms were very quiet. There aren't many places to eat close to the hotel but there is a safeway about a mile away where you can buy groceries and ready to eat meals. The area around the hotel was great and had easy access for driving. We would definitely stay here again.

This Inn in San Francisco is a quirky gem in a great location. It is located a short block from the Cliff house and Sutro Baths. There are near by walking paths and a nice park. The bus stop is across the street. It is easily accessible if you arrive in the city from the Golden Gate Bridge. The best kept secret is that parking if free!
We stayed in room 305, an updated room with two beds and a fire place. There is a little kitchenette with a fridge. The room was large and bright and very comfortable. Other rooms have a great set-up for family with children.
The Inn has a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. If you are up to a .7 mile walk, head up Geary Avenue to the Pacific Cafe for a superb dinner. Great service and if you have to wait, you will be served a complimentary glass of wine.
Caution, on weekends you do have to book your room for two nights.

Room Tip: Cribs are available. Some rooms have a folding door between the bed and the sitting area; baby can have a separate area that way. My grand baby sleeps better if he can't see anyone.
