“Medical appts”
Reviewed 31 December 2013

There were three medical appts. scheduled for over 2 days and late on the first day , staying in SF is such an ordeal so we usually stay on the other side of the Golden Gate , but I just did not want to drive back & forth , since the appts were at VA , I looked for the closest Hotel , Seal Rock Inn is an older Hotel close by , was pricey but really clean and nice , with a small elevator and a wonderful patio layout , there is a small restaurant below for breakfast & lunch with Louies & the Cliffhouse nearby , like I said the price was high but location and cleanliness was good.

Room Tip: I like the 1st floor goes right out to patio area , but in summer don't know if this would be a...

My wife and I stayed here 3nights in Sept 2013 and the only drawback was due to there location food was resigned to a Walgreens 4blocks away.Other than that we'll stay here anytime we visit SF.Nice clean rooms some with ocean views, elevator ,microwave, and fridge.Location was literally at Lands end,but the 38L stopped right outside our motel, and with the help our the staff there was no issues to get to the city.Take a short walk down to the ocean(go through the wooded area),Don't miss Baker beach via Geary Ave to 25th ave.Dogs love it here.Nice view of the BRIDGE".Buy a "muni" pass to safe $$$.Cable cars are 6.00 each way.We plan to return in 2014 and with any luck,we'll stay here again. One more plus FREE PARKING!!!! Hope this helps David/Cheryl Sargent

Room Tip: BOOK EARLY great price for SF.Ask for a room with a view

My husband and I spent 5 days this past week at the Seal Rock Inn. If you are interested in a nice, quiet, clean, low keyed place to stay this is your hotel! It was built sometime in the 50's from what I am told and still has the old charm. It is located at Land's End and right across the street from the Sutra bath and beautiful park. All the staff were so attentive, we had nothing to complain about. We are avid coffee drinkers and were given extra coffee each time we asked with no hesitation. We stayed in room 301, which is on the third floor at the end. There is a nice small restaurant in the hotel, but it does close around 4 PM each day. Our room was clean and very comfortable with a nice fireplace which we used one evening. My only suggestion would be to put a clock in the room. It was strange not to have one somewhere. Even the cleaning staff were all so pleasant and we never saw them chatting and not working. If you want to be in the middle of the night life, this isn't the place for you, but if you want a nice reasonably priced room, it is perfect. The buses do run just in front of the hotel, but they never bothered us at all. The coffee and other shower and provided shampoos were quality as well. We heard several of the other guests stating how happy they were with their stay also. We would certainly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again on our next trip. Thanks to all the folks at the Seal Rock Inn for making our stay so nice!

Room Tip: Our room was on the third floor and very quiet. The hotel has a quiet time rule after 10 pm and bef...

This place is awesome! We stayed here for a week on our honeymoon and they catered to our every need. Ocean views, peaceful and all around great price! The housekeeping is fantastic, the bed comfy and it's like a studio apartment :) if you are in San Fran for more then a few days stay here! It's beyond affordable and peaceful. The bus line is right here and so is the ocean. We will definitely be back! Thanks Seal Rock!!!

It isn't a five star downtown hotel with ridiculous prices. What it is, is a reasonable alternative. The outside appearance isn't great but the room we had (Ocean view) was large and comfortable if a little dated. There is no air conditioning which didn't matter in early October, and it had a good bathroom along with the usual mini-fridge and coffee maker. WiFi was good, the the view was OK and the free parking is a nice surprise.

There is a bus stop right outside and the buses which run every eight minutes according to the timetable will take you downtown in less than an hour, Get a Muni 1, 3, or 7 day pass if you plan on using the public transport to explore the city, you can pick one up at the airport or in a number of locations round the city.

Note that the onsite restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch so you will need to travel to dinner.

We had a terrific experience at Seal Rock Inn. The location is five star - just a short walk down the hill to the attractions (Visitors center, Coastal Trail, beach, Cliff House). We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The rates are reasonable (hard to find in SF). Rooms are spacious with comfortable bedding, small refrigerators and there is a nice courtyard with pingpong. Our family had several rooms and it worked out very well for all. The bathrooms had been renovated, and some of us had flat screen TVs. Wifi worked. Parking on site. Basic diner type restaurant on site for breakfast and lunch. There were some quirks - primarily that they use an old-fashioned system for the reservations. You cannot reserve online, phone and email reservations took a long time (for three rooms with different people arriving different times) and we found it hard to make changes. (The rooms were available, but their system made it complicated to change anything.) Also, late arrival was a problem because the desk closes at 11. We appreciated their accommodations for this. One family member arriving late had to step over someone sleeping on the floor! One downside is that the neighborhood does not have close-by shops and restaurants. However, there is a bus right outside the door that goes down Geary, so you can get everywhere in SF easily without battling the traffic. But... if you don't expect the Hilton, do stay there. We will definitely come back!

Room Tip: Get the top floor (which is called the third floor, even though it is the fourth) for ocean views.

Been to SF many times, probably 25 since 1990. I have family in the Richmond district. We have stayed in hotels all over the city. Seal Rock Inn is by far the most convenient for our family. We always rent a car so the free parking is a perk in a city where you can spend $45.00 per day for hotel parking. The restaurant has excellent breakfast and is used by the locals. It is not a 4 star hotel by any means but it is clean and the staff friendly. I have stayed there for my past three visits and will again. If you are looking for a modern hotel with many amenities do not stay here. If you are looking for a clean place to sleep with beautiful views, this is your place.

Cliff house, Beach Chalet, SF Zoo, Wallgreen's , pacific cafe, Sutro park, beach, walking trails, visitor's center all in the area. Though I have never used the bus, it is right outside.
