“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014 via mobile

Nothing exactly wrong with the hotel but the 4 star rating is misleading. Parking is extortionate (although in line with most of SF). We parked down the road at Anchorage and saved a few bucks. Free wifi in the lobby but expect to pay in your room. Reception had only one person working and a queue when we were trying to checkout.

Hotel is located one block from Fisherman's Wharf!! Great for walking to many attractions, Pier 39 and restaurants. We stayed in a Double Queen room which was clean and quiet. The hotel is a bit old and dated, but it was clean and beds were comfortable. The daily parking is a bit steep, but you pay that price for the fabulous location!

I wouldn't have chosen this tourist trap if it hadn't been a last-minute trip and the entire city hadn't been sold out (Cisco convention at Moscone). Front desk staff is nice enough and seems to be trying (though I had to literally wander the back office to find them since I was arriving at ~11:30pm). The hotel, however, is tacky at its best, low-rent and rundown at its worst. I paid an exorbitant rate ($462 per night!) to stay for two nights, so it was clear price gouging was in effect. My 2nd floor room the first night was ghastly -- the view (see pic!) was of the HVAC system, the door let light and sound in as though it was wide open, even when closed, there was a Motel-style window unit for AC that was incredibly loud (on and off, on and off, all night) and the furniture and fixtures were beaten up. Worst was the foot traffic overhead -- the construction is so flimsy that it was impossible not to hear every footfall and creak. The 2nd night was better: a room on the 4th floor, so no overhead tromping, and the AC unit wasn't as noisy. Even so, not worth 4-star prices, not even close.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the top floor (4th) so you don't have to listen to people tromping around on y...

My mom and I recently stayed at this hotel while on vacation and what stood out for me was the very friendly staff. As soon answer walked in we were greeted and assisted by Prince whom we later got to spend some time talking to. He was knowledgeable about the area and get this, he speaks seven languages! What an asset to the hotel and travelers, in general. Prince made us feel comfortable and welcome. He and the rest of the concierge staff were really great helping us navigate our way around. Look for a prince if you stay there. He'll be a lot of help to you. He left a really memorable impression for us.

Spent 7 nights here in May. Very central for all attractions, all bus tours, lots of bars, North Beach, Chinatown, Alcatraz etc. Couldn't fault the hotel. Good room (which they changed for us without delay), good Room Service, local supermarkets for cheap food, local cafes for cheap breakfast, within 200m of the Wharf. Great stay.

My husband and I used Priceline and got a great deal on this spur of the moment stay in San Fran. We wanted to stay in walking distance to the Fisherman's Wharf. We thought we were getting a room with two queen beds vs a king bed. When we arrived we were informed the beds were two double beds with no option to upgrade to king. We were disappointed but none the less accepted the room. The room had a view of the roof and venting system of the hotel. Since we didn't spend much in time in the room, that was fine. One thing that I was disappointed in was there was not a fridge in the room. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The hotel seemed a little dated, and the bathroom seemed a little small. But because we got the room for $112 per night, it was a great deal. Had I paid full price I would have been disappointed in the room. A good note to know about parking. Valet parking with the hotel is $50 per night and the parking garage a crossed the street is $30 per night. But another note about the parking garage, if you park the car in the garage make sure you are ready to park it for the full 24 hours because is you plan to leave 2-3 hours later, you will be charged the full $30. We unfortunately made this mistake.

Stayed at Sheraton for four nights mid-May in a suite. Overall standard of room was good, spacious living and bedroom accommodation although bathroom very small. Window seals very poor and the room was therefore noisy at night with passing traffic noise. Wi-fi charges, bar and breakfast all extortionately priced. Reception area very spartan, noisy and uncomfortable. Location the only reason to stay at this hotel.
