“Great Location - Quiet Room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

One of the best locations for touristas like us in SFO. Central to everything that a traveler to my fave city would want. Cable Cars, Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf ... all right across the street! We had an awesome time!

First - Location.
You can't beat this location if you're here to see all the gloriously touristy things San Francisco has to offer. You're within walking distance to the Embarcadero, Pier 39 (sea lion show daily), and ferries that will take you to Alcatraz and/or Oakland. Head in the other direction, and you're at Ghirardelli Square where you can overdose on chocolate and ice cream while gazing out on the glorious bay.

Staff.
The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. There was one misinterpretation where I was told I'd be receiving 1500 Starwood points for declining cleaning services as part of their green initiative. My stay was from Tues-Fri, which as it turns out, only entitles you to 1000 points. Would have been better had that been communicated up front.

The Hotel.
They're doing ok with what they have. The lobby is warm and inviting. There are tables outside with fireplaces for guests to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day. Unfortunately, the tables line the driveway so there are cars coming and going with guests. Kind of ruins the atmosphere. The rooms are good- they've done a nice job brightening them up with white linens and interior items (paintings, lamps, chairs, etc), but you can tell the place needs a face lift. I will say the rooms are a pleasant upgrade from the hallways that get you there. The carpets are old and conjure up images of mold. And the bathrooms - nothing to write home about. They are set up with the sink outside the bathroom so you run the risk of waking up a roommate should you use the sink in the middle of the night.

All-in-all, now that I know what to expect I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Just because you're a Starwood member, does not mean that they won't put you in a room looki...

Dear Caitlyn,

Thanks for staying with us. We appreciate the review especially the nice comments about our staff. Sorry about the misinformation regarding our Make A Green Choice Program. This program gives our Guests the opportunity to opt out of housekeeping services to help us achieve our sustainability goal of 30/20 by 20 (30% energy reduction, 20% water reduction by 2020.)

Glad that the remainder of your stay was enjoyable. Please come back to see us again.

Sincerely,

We stayed here two nights en route to the UK. We found the staff very efficient, polite & knowledgeable about the area. We were given a quiet room as requested & found the beds to be very comfortable. The bathroom was very compact & we think had a design fault in that there was no light switch actually inside the bathroom. This meant that it disturbed the other person if u turned on the light in the sink area to find it! Also looked as though our room had been newly refurbished.

Room Tip: Request a quiet room in advance.

The Sheraton at Fisherman's wharf was located perfectly for many of the attractions we wanted to experience while in SF. The lobby area, restaurant etc. were very nice but the rooms themselves need an update. They were very "80ish" looking and out of date.
The staff was what you would expect at a Sheraton. Everyone we interacted with went above and beyond in regard to service. The concierge staff guided us to several great restaurants during our two day stay.
Would we stay here again? Probably but I would check other properties in the area before booking.

This hotel was perfect for us! The rooms are clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful! The location was the best past though. We could walk almost everywhere and if we needed a ride, transportation was so easy to get! Take the ferry over to Sausalito for brunch. Also, Enterprise Rent A Car is within walking distance, so if you want to take a short drive to Napa or Sonoma, it's SO easy!!!

The location of this hotel so close to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 can't be faulted and the staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were of reasonable size and kept very clean. The hotel has quite a large area that it covers so it can be quite a walk to your room from the elevators. Our main gripe is do with extra costs. $50 a day for parking is disgraceful and particularly as there is no apparent concession for hotel residents over general public parking and free wi-fi is only available in the lobby with a charge of $14.99 to have it in your room - in this day and age this is just not how things should be done. Some form of Wi-fi in a hotel room should be as free and available in hotels as towels and toiletries are.

Dear gagsne,

Thanks for the 4 star rating and nice comments about your stay at Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf. We were pleased to read that you found our rooms clean and comfortable and our location convenient to all the sights and activities in San Francisco.

We offer rates with and without some amentities like parking and internet. We find that people prefer the price flexibility. Perhaps a package deal might be a better way for you next time.

We appreciate your patronage and hope to see you again soon.

The rooms are good but the whole hotel feels a little dated and tired. The best thing about the hotel is the location, short walk to Fishermans Wharf. I wouldn't pay full rate for a room here as it's not really 4 star. Some rooms can be noisy, so ask for a quiet room away from the street if you're a light sleeper. Otherwise, you will need to take advantage of the free ear plugs they have in the room. No bottled water in room, so bring your own. There is a supermarket across the road, so useful when you need to buy your own water, snacks. No in room fridge which is not necessarily a bad thing, but may be an issue for some people.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor.
