Great hotel to stay when in San Fran. Beautiful Lobby, very grand. Fitness center is awesome. Convenient to both the Bart and Trolley to get around. Not far from Chinatown as well. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Be careful with room bar, if you even touch the items the sensor picks up that you used the item. Our room bill had charges from even the vibrations of taking out the Keurig to make coffee in the morning. Great service at front desk and concierge. Extremely helpful and courteous. Awesome views from our room, and we got a great rate on the internet, including free parking. Would definitely stay here again if we could get the deal we did.

In the past, I have been let down by some of the Fairmont properties in Canada - while their settings are scenic, the rooms are very dated in some and service not always the greatest. I am pleased to say that wasn't the case with Fairmont San Francisco. Superb location with great vistas all around and very classy, spacious and comfortable rooms. The huge walk-in closet was a nice surprise. Service was excellent and front desk staff and bellmen were always happy to answer all the questions coming from someone new to the area. Very central with the California cable car access practically on the doorstep or the Powell - Mason/Hyde lines a block away. That said, if you have asthma issues like me, take it slow and steady while walking as the climb to the hotel from most directions is fairly steep - small price to pay for the great views and a superb experience.

Thank you for commenting on your recent stay with us and for being such a loyal Fairmont customer! I'm sorry to hear you've been let down by some of our sister properties, but pleased to hear you had such a nice stay with us. We feel quite fortunate to be located atop Nob Hill and afforded such stunning views of the City and the Bay. I'm pleased to hear you found service excellent as we feel this is what truly differentiates us from our competition. Thanks again for your kind words and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
Sincerely,
Lucas Schumacher

San Francisco's crown jewel. Hotel located easy distance from all major attractions. Corner rooms have great views. Join the President's club, it's free and you get free wifi and a lot of other perks. Staff is well trained, and always exceptionally nice. Take the time to look at the vintage photo's that hang on the hall way walls. I stay here for business but wake up feeling like I am on a vacation.

Room Tip: Corner rooms facing the bay have breath taking views.

my sweetheart decided to treat my daughter and grandson (and us) to a night at the Fairmont while we explored the city, before they flew home the next day. we all enjoyed the hotel, an amazing breakfast (spinach and heirloom tomato eggs benedict, mmm) and the best cup of coffee in the whole wide world. the beds and pillows are the ultimate in comfortable, the staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and not stuffy in the least. we had a beautiful city view from our room (614), rode the cable car a block away (a highlight for my 5 year old grandson) ate a block or so away at nob hill cafe, (recommended by staff). you know, san francisco is just a great town - and I m not a city person ! the only negative I have is that they want to charge you for wifi unless youre in the presidents club, and I found that to be totally out of line for what you pay for a room. even crappy hotels give you free wifi.

Room Tip: I seriously doubt you could get a bad room here...

Thank you for sharing your recent experience at the hotel. It sounds like you and your family had a wonderful stay with us and were able to experience much of the property in a short time. I can certainly appreciate your feelings about breakfast in Laurel Court. It has been our signature restaurant since the hotel opened and still provides an excellent experience for our guests. The cable car is a great way to explore the City and we are actually located at the only point in the City where all the cable car lines intersect. Thanks again and we hope to welcome you and your family back in the near future.
Sincerely,
Lucas Schumacher

We got an amazing deal through booking.com for a room without a view at the Fairmont, a little over $200 a night including parking for our rental car (which normally runs about $60 a night!). When we got there we opted to pay an extra $50 for a tower room with a city view, which we jumped at and were so glad we did. Big picture window with an amazing view of the city... fabulous! The Fairmont lobby is gorgeous, the room was great, the bathroom fantastic. Everyone on the staff was very friendly and helpful, we couldn't have asked for more. The location of the hotel is wonderful, with great views in every direction. Be prepared for some serious exercise if you plan to walk to the hotel from anywhere in the city: the streets surrounding the hotel are STEEP!! Bed was super comfortable, we had a great night's sleep!

Room Tip: We were on the sixth floor in the tower, had a lovely room with a view of the city including a peek...

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay with us. I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and were able to find a great deal online. I'm pleased you were able to upgrade to the tower as it is offers some of the most picturesque views of the City and Bay. Those picturesque views come at a cost as you noted, as the walk up and down can be quite challenging. Hopefully they were worth the effort! Thanks again and we hope to welcome you again in the near future.
Sincerely,
Lucas Schumacher

We lucked into a half price deal for the Fairmont, but on arrival we felt like 2nd class citizens. Our next stay was at the InterContinental Monterey (also at a half price rate)and the two hotels were chalk and cheese. The Fairmont suggested we pay $90 a night for a view, the IC upgraded us without their hand out. The room was poorly serviced at the Fairmont. The IC was fabulous. On a positive note the Fairmont is a beautiful old hotel with great older style (but newly updated) rooms in a lovely spot. I'd be back there tomorrow if I felt at home there like I did at the IC in Monterey.

Easily one of the loveliest hotels in SF! We stayed in one of the tower rooms, in the newer part of the hotel. Our room was glorious, with impeccable furnishings and a perfectly-appointed bath--great for luxuriating! The lobby and public areas were stunning, and we enjoyed looking through the shops and various lounges--each prettier than the next! Also enjoyed the numerous photo displays documenting the many notables who'd stayed there over the years and historic events that had taken place there--very enlightening! Staff were extremely polite and service-oriented, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Would recommend highly.

Room Tip: Tower rooms were lovely!

Thank you for your extremely kind words about the hotel. We welcome all guest feedback, but are particularly happy to hear from such a seasoned traveler as yourself. We are thrilled to hear you found the hotel so lovely and your room beautiful. We recently completed a complete guestroom renovation and feel our rooms bring a modern luxury to our classical hotel. Much of our storied history is on display throughout the property and it sounds like you spent some time exploring those images. Thanks again for your kind words and we look forward to your return.
Sincerely,
Lucas Schumacher
