Run with the efficiency of well tuned museum...which with its historical significance is! All the rooms are newly renovated with understated taste retaining the elegance of this iconic property. The world famous Tonga Room makes a great Mai-Tai and the Laurel Court food and service is par excellence. Only downside is problematic and expensive valet parking...and the walk back UP Know Hill. it remains a classic grand hotel for all...including the family pet. JMF/August 20, 2014

Thank you for your kind words about the hotel. I'm very pleased to hear you had such a nice visit. As you mentioned we are a historic hotel and have much of that storied past on display throughout the property. Tonga Room is a San Francisco institution and features the best Mai Tai in town. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
Sincerely,
Lucas Schumacher

Our 4 day stay at the Fairmont in San Francisco was the culmination of a magical trip along the West Coast of the US. We felt like honoured guests in the palatial surroundings of the hotel. The views from our room were spectacular and everything about the hotel added to our enjoyment of being in San Francisco. Well done to all the staff and employees behind the scenes.

The hotel is located in a historic building and a newer 20+ storey tower.
We stayed in the tower, on the 17th floor, with a very nice view of the city (when the fog lifted:)
Overall it was a pleasant stay but if the room came with better bathroom amenities and a free wifi, it would have felt more like a true 5* hotel ..

Thank you for commenting on your recent stay with us. I"m pleased you had such a nice visit and enjoyed your view from the tower. As you mentioned (Karl the Fog permitting) the tower affords some of the most stunning views in the City. Thanks again and we look forward to your return.

Excellent hotel and location to stay at in San Francisco. The views from the tower facing north are spectacular. The property is located right on the corner of where all 3 cable car routes have stops, is in walking distance to Chinatown and Union Square. Note that the hills are very steep around the hotel and sometimes the cable cars can be full if trying to get back to the hotel after exploring the sights at union square and fisherman's wharf. The California line is less busy so if you want to experience a cable ride take that line.

Great location at the top of Nob Hill, an easy walk to Chinatown. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The Tonga Room was a blast. It's a beautiful old hotel, updated with modern conveniences..

Great location and beautiful views. The rooms in the tower are spacious and well appointed. Service is flawless. A drink or meal in the Laurel Room brings back memories of days gone and yet still impressive.
Just one negative note. Concierge should be up front when they charge a service fee (Hop on /Hop off tour tickets )and not add it to the price. You find out anyway and no one likes to be conned.

Room Tip: Bay view from the tower

Thank you for your kind words about the hotel. While admittedly biased, we agree that the views are some of the most spectacular around. Thank you for your note about the concierge. I"ll be sure to let them know so this mistake isn't duplicated. Thanks again.

Stayed here 3 nights and wow! Great service, fabulous location and accommodations. Truly palatial with luxuries galore. Down side would be the fitness center which is inside the Fairmont, but not part of it so unless you are a member or part of Fairmont president's club, you have to pay to use facilities. In addition, the Hertz rent a car desk inside Fairmont was way over priced! Went online got much better price that included pick up service at the hotel. Some of those things are not a part of Fairmont so it's not fair to review against them for that. All in all it was a fabulous stay.
