“Stay away”
Reviewed 27 April 2013

Is the worst experience I have ever had. We were going to stay just for one night, the location great but once we enter the our room we saw that our pillows had some blood stains, we call front desk and the guy said that it could not be true that the room was cleaned before we came and that if we want new sheets we should come to pick it up at the front desk. I told him that the least they could do is bring new sheets and change it, but he was really rude, almost yelling at me,and insist that the room was clean and he was not going to bring it. My husband went to the front desk to pick the sheets and the guy star yelling at him saying the if we want a five star hotel we should go to the Sheraton, my husband took the sheets and came up, then this guy came into our room with this actitude to check if the pillows had something, and said that it might be that one of the employees cut themselves while changing the sheets (again with his rude actitude). He told us that we could leave the hotel if we want but we only have 5 minutes to decide. We payed $200 for one nigh in that hotel, we left the hotel immediately and will never come back, a customer should never be treat like that.

Basic motel but plenty of room in our room with two queen beds. It was a bit noisy with all of the traffic, partiers, etc, but since we were only there for one night, it wasn't bad. The location is great. It is a short block to Fisherman's Wharf. The desk clerk was very helpful and provided a map and orientation for the major sights. We were happy that they allowed us to keep our car in their lot after checkout because we had a late flight - gave us more time to sightsee (this is one of the very few hotels that have free parking which saved us about $40). Note: we found a cheaper rate on hotels.com than directly with the hotel.

We stayed here for three nights near the end of July 2012.

The benefits of this hotel are easily summed up: price and location. You'd be hard pressed to find a better deal this close to the Wharf and Pier 39 - they're literally a few steps from the front desk of the hotel. Of course, this could very well lead to all the money you saved booking a room here being lost after all as both of these tourist traps loaded with eateries, gift shops and "fun 'n games" are nearby!

One of the other major perks of this hotel is the free parking for guests. This was the first time we visited San Francisco, but we've heard that it is near impossible to find (affordable) parking in the city and that many hotels charge you for parking. Suffice to say, we were very pleased. The parking spots aren't abundant though, so we opted to park the car when we checked in and didn't move it again until we checked out, relying on public transit to get around the city. There is a tram station (F-Line) within walking distance from the hotel which gets you to Union Square rather swiftly, so this was ideal. Also, there are a few bike shops nearby where you can rent bicycles to explore the city (and perhaps cross the Golden Gate bridge!) however you'd like to.

The employees at the front desk were helpful and above all, glad to help us. However, they did cause a mix-up with some tickets we purchased through them for a bus tour of the city - they apparently sold us tickets which were incorrectly priced (i.e. too cheap) leading to us not being admitted to the bus. Luckily, the bus tour office is across the street from the hotel so we were able to get it sorted out soon enough.

The room is nothing fancy, though it is spacious considering how little it costs! The bed was fine, as was the bathroom. Free WiFi is provided. The room was clean, but a bit dated both in terms of interior decoration and architecture; few sounds are blocked by the walls. You could hear other guests walking in the corridors and you could also hear everything going on out down on the street (we slept street-side). At night-time there were the occasional cars playing very loud music parked on the street and also, homeless people shouting at one another. Thankfully, access to the elevator and stairs is only granted by a room card, so we felt safe in our room at night.

If you are visiting San Francisco for the first time and feel like you want to be near Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 (and a little bit farther, Lombard Street), I believe this would be your best bet unless you'd rather spend more money for a bit of luxury. However, if you'd rather steer clear of the tourist traps and relocate in the direction of Union Square (shopping and tall buildings) and the variety of famous parks, streets and architecture, I'd recommend you stay elsewhere.

Location, location, location! Oh, and free parking! Those were the positives of this hotel. Not a terrible place, since when you are in San Francisco, your room should just be used for sleeping. Our room had a view of the back wall of the building next door. No AC, but there was a ceiling fan. But, if you want to be close to Fisherman's Wharf, this is a well-located hotel. Hair dryers are available, but you have to get them at the front desk.

I choose to stay here because of the location close to everything we were doing - Fisherman's wharf, the Piers, Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz. In that case it was perfect. However the hotel is very old, run down. Don't expect a big room. We booked a 2 queen room with a cot. So for 5 of us we were cramped. They ran out of room for parking, however made an exception to allow us to park in one of the handicapped stalls out on the street. Our room had a water view but also had a view of all the street vagrants. The city collects garbage through the night and very early in the morning. So between loud people and traffic you don't get much sleep. Water flow was very sad in the shower and lamps were burnt out. No air conditioning which can create poor air flow in room. I recognize that this is one of the cheapest hotels in San Fran by the piers but considering is was still pricey to stay here I was hugely disappointed.

Room Tip: Rooms all enter from outside walkways. If you don't want lots of people walking by your room boo...

Spent four days in San Francisco and wanted to stay near The Wharf, Little Italy and China Town. Most places in the area are very expensive, around $300 per night for a room with a king bed. The Wharf in was almost half the price and a decent hotel. Since we were on the go non-stop while there, we didn't need anything fancy and this place fit the bill. If you book more than 30 days in advance you get an additional discount.
