We only stated at this hotel for 3 nights, but it was superb. Situated a stone's throw from the Chinese gate it made it easy to explore San Francisco.
The staff were all friendly and most helpful with direction to the sights etc, especially Scott who made sure that our 20th wedding anniversary was special by booking us a table at a fantastic restaurant.
If we ever get the chance to go back to San francisco, I will definately be staying here again.

What an amazing week we had at Hotel Triton! The location was superb! San Fran is such a walkable city! The hotel staff was not only friendly and extremely handsome :) , but they were very knowledgeable of the city and gave some great recommendations for restaurants. The room was amazing and funky and was so clean! The bed and pillows were so comfortable we thought of looking to see the brand so we can purchase the same kind! We loved the coffee, the wine hour and the warm cookies! I loved the artsy vibe the hotel has and I can say it is now my favorite hotel of all time!! We will be back!
Thanks, Hotel Triton, for helping us make some amazing memories!!

We stayed 5 nights for a convention; the room was very clean and nicely decorated, the bathroom was up to date. The hotel is an older historic building but this was not as obvious as in other small San Fran hotels I've stayed at. The electrical, hallways, windows, bed, etc have been updated. Excellent location near shopping streets, union square and the china town gates.

The entire staff was very welcoming and friendly; everyone said hello; while we were sharing the elevator, the head of housekeeping said to contact her if we needed anything at all.

Room Tip: We had a room on the north side of the 6th floor; we could see the china town gate down below, no tr...

This is a nice hotel in a great location in Downtown San Francisco. The hotel is literally across the street from the Chinatown gate and two blocks away from Union Square. But it's on a fairly quiet street so there's no worry about traffic noise. The decor is quirky and unique in a very good way. WE had a great welcome from Tawny on reception the day we arrived, but the service from the rest of the staff we encountered throughout our stay was average at best. The decor in the room was again quirky in a good way, but the room was fairly small, expecially the bathroom. I guess you expect that in a mid-price downtown hotel in SF though. The free wine hour each afternoon is a nice touch. Our room was not cleaned one day despite us being out the whole day, which is a fairly basic mistake that hotels just shouldn't make. Overall I would recommend the hotel for those in the mid-price budget but there's a few things they could improve to make it a great place to stay.

I stayed here late September 2013. Hotel is very central, right next to the China Town Arches and walking distance to Union Square and a little further to Fisherman's Wharf.
Funky decor inside and very friendly and helpful staff. Dogs are welcome! Our room was situated on the 7th floor, facing across a side alley and another building. Green wood panelled walls part way up and script wall paper add a kooky touch. Fully syocked mini bar..Scary Spice Girl-esque towelling robes, rubber duck and chalk board are quirky extras.

There is no restaurant in the hotel, but room service can be ordered via the bistro next door, as can be breakfast. Though to be honest are quite expensive and there are plenty of cafe's in the area..including the omnipressant Starbucks directly opposite the hotel.
Warm cookies are served each afternoon around 3pm in the foyer and there is a wine evening. A number of nights a tarot card reader was sat in the lobby ($10 basic reading $25 full reading!)

The only issue for me..which became a big issue, was the warmth of the room. Granted it was hot in San Fran when we visited, the air con was VERY loud and the window in our room quite small. Lead me to feeling really quite clausterophobic and I had a panic attack one night. Could have asked at reception about a room change, but being British..I didnt!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the front of the hotel, appeared to have bigger windows!

This boutique hotel was a fabulous place to stay! My husband and I arrived late in the evening and were given a polite smile, warm welcome and glass of wine. All the rooms are 'themed' - ours was immaculate, clean and everything you could want. Most welcome was the evening 'get together' when all guests were invited to visit the lounge for a complimentary glass of wine (or several!)-what a lovely idea and way to meet people from all over the world... The location was ideal for getting out and about. A special thanks to Adrian, for being so charming and giving us tourist advice. Breakfast was complimentary (continental) which was also a nice touch, as it was served at your room at the time you requested. I would recommend this hotel.
