“Super rate & fab location”
Reviewed 26 March 2012 via mobile

Stayed for 3 nights earlier this month and had a very enjoyable stay.

Bit of a hiccup at check in, whereby the hotel hadn't received expedia's fax/email to confirm our reservation. I was left to call Expedia myself and basically sort it out before they would confirm my booking. Would've perhaps expected a little more service and assistance from the hotel in this regard, but we got it sorted and ended up with a free upgrade, so didn't end too badly!

The hotel is very centrally located downtown, and if you shop around the rates can be an absolute bargain. They have wine tasting every evening in the cosy lobby, and there's a Michelin starred restaurant affiliated to the hotel in the next building. Free wifi, nice toiletries and a unique style to the bedrooms all add to the positive impression. I'd describe it as a mid-range boutique hotel, so won't be to everyone's tastes, but of course the rate reflects this and I think it's well worth it.

We asked for a quiet room and it wasn't too bad. Like any downtown location, you will pickup background traffic noise, roadworks etc., but no problems here at all.

We didn't make use of all the hotels services, so can't comment on those, but overall it was a good place to stay while visiting and I would definitely consider returning.

We scored a room with Hotel Tonight for $89 and got a queen room on the highest floor. Very quiet! We have stayed in their property in Seattle so we know that rooms are small but clean & service is efficient. Just for one night so a great Union Square location near everything. We have a car so parking is an issue but that's not their fault.

Nice but small flat screen on the wall, comfy bed, basic bath with shower. We won't spend much time in the room so it's plenty good. That's why we get so much value at their hotels. Plus they now have a wine hour, so that's a bonus (plus so-so free wifi...the kind you have to keep enabling through a portal page)!

My husband and I stayed here Friday to Sunday and loved it. The room was clean with ample space for the 2 of us. I loved the bathroom soaps, loations and shampoo's and wish we could buy large bottels. The staff was always helpful, had a smile on their faces and willing to help in any way they could. Loved the location and the ease of getting to and from the cable cars, up town and down town and all the sights of Beautiful San Francisco. We are all ready planning our next visit and may just bring the kids.

Got a great deal through expedia. Enjoyed our stay in this well located hotel.

The room was well presented and clean, only undone by cleanliness of the window frames. The decor could do with an update, and unfortunately the early start to the on going roadworks outside meant we got an early wake up call most mornings. The windows could do with better sound proofing to stop the noise from outside encroaching.

The proximity to the cable network meant we had a great transportation connection to key parts of SF. Get a City Pass and it becomes a cheap travel option. One drawback is that the closeness of the cable cars also means you have to listen to it. At times it sounded as if we were living in the Windy City.

The staff were friendly and really helpful, and we really enjoyed the daily wine tasting. It was a great way to meet the other guests.

Wifi was fast and free. Used the nearby Cafe Roxanne for good breakfasts so didn't missing the the fact that the hotel doesn't have a kitchen. Didn't consider Masa's restaurant as a real part of the hotel - too upscale in comparison to the rest of the place.

And no, we couldn't smell the musty odour that some others have mentioned.

Overall a really good experience and yes we would consider going back.

Thank you for your review. The Executive Hotel Vintage Court staff is always here to make your visit to San Francisco a joy and your accommodations should be enjoyable! The mentioned windows are newer installed just a few years back and sound proofed yet the road work you mentioned was a "city" update on the street. The hotel for any odor issues has either erplaced or steam cleaned each rooms carpet, wall covering and bath to continue to be proactive. The combination of the age of the hotel and geo thermal instant hot water for showers and baths may contribute to "odors but we feel a good clean room, plush pillow top bed to sleep on, and quite rooms with the right amenities (lcd tv, mini bar) is what our guests need and nothing more. Reviews such as yours is what our hotel company strives for and from your review we succeeded to make your time with us memorable! Thanks again!

I've just returned from a week-long business trip to San Francisco. Executive Inn Vintage Court is a go-to hotel. If you like vintage hotels you'll love this one. Located between Powell Street and China Town there is a lot of foot traffic so it is safe. Rooms were clean and the staff was courteous. Just wish it had more than 1 elevator.

The evening wine receptions are enjoyable and you meet very interesting people. The networking environment is good too. Choose this hotel if your travel budget is limited as they usually have good rates.

I am still thinking and not sure of the exact reason why but this hotel forced me into signing up on tripadvisor to write a review. Well usually i am the kind of guy who uses tripadvisor to just browse through the hotel reviews of the place that i want/plan to visit and base my decisions slightly on what i read on them.

The hotel is at a great location, not too close to the business district but again not too far. I was here as part of a corporate company team visiting GDC and i could see a lot of other rooms were occupied by fellow game developers. Liked the styling of the hotel. Rooms have been given names of wineries, Maple winery i think, was the one that i stayed in for 5 days. Rooms do show a sign of age, specially the bathrooms. The room that we were in on the 6th floor faced the road unfortunately and there was some work going on right in front of the hotel. I am guessing it was because of this that there was truck dumping stuff or making a lot of noises right about 6'o clock in the morning. As it is, i was jet lagged and this just made my sleep schedule go crazy weird. The bathroom knobs for the hot and cold water could act a little crazy, but a little effort with them would get them running fine. The wifi experience was also flaky at times but serves the purpose most of the times.

The cleaning staff was great, we would be gone barely an hour and our rooms would be sparkling clean again. The front desk was mostly very receptive and the experience there was good. Unfortunately, i had to ask them to hold my baggage till 12 as we checked out of the rooms at around 9 in the morning for some breakfast and some shopping and we didnt want to go back up to the rooms again. When i came back for the baggage, the baggage tags were with my colleague who was parking the car and i was told to get them first. When i did get them, then i was asked to come and identify my bags. So i pretty much did not understand why i had to get the tags if they werent used for identification.

Well, more or less a pretty decent experience if you could make do with some of the quirks of this place.

Dear Recent Guest:

Thanks so much for you stay and recent review. Our hotel takes great pride in servicing our guests and we appreciate the feedback. Although it wasn’t a prefect stay, I would like to address the troublesome issues. The water controls for the shower are being addressed with an upgraded single diverter (handle) for the baths later this year. The wi-fi / wireless access was upgraded to cable internet service for (speed) in February, and added access points are being installed too. Unfortunately the access point updates are being installed later this month to increase the broad range of the connection This should give each guest a better internet wi-fi user experience. The hotel during the first eight (8) days of March did host an online Gaming Convention and most our guests were satisfied with the internet service. Lastly, besides some noise on the street side which is part of city workers, we do regret that you had to point out your own luggage as claim checks are in and always will be our guide to control, protect and issue only luggage to their proper owners. I am sure the claim checks for your luggage was verified but our staff is here to serve you and protect your property, not the other way around.

The Executive Hotel Vintage Court staff is always here to make your visit to San Francisco a joy and your accommodations should be enjoyable. A review such as yours is taken seriously and it will better our service. Thanks again!

This hotel is old but very clean. The staff couldn't be more accommodating.
It does help to request one of the larger rooms with bay window and bench.
I have stayed twice in one month and the staff already knows me by name.
I wouldn't 't hesitate to return.

Room Tip: The staff is eager to please. Request a larger room.
