I stayed here for 5 nights with my sister in February and it was a lovely experience. The hotel staff are friendly and wonderful (especially the doorman who was always helpful and smiley even though it was -20 degrees Celsius outside) and they even gave us a free room upgrade to the window seated rooms on the 14th floor. Now, I cannot stress enough how great these window seats are. If I ever get the chance to go back to Chicago, I would not hesitate to pay a little more for these. They are worth every cent (unless you're not a fan of beautiful views or heights in general). Also, the room is beautifully decorated and the bathroom has a spacious bench area to put all my toiletries.
There is also complimentary Starbucks coffee in the lobby in the morning and wine in the evening, and although we did not try it, I saw plenty of others enjoying it so I assume it's good. If you're a Kimpton member, you get free wifi and a $10 raid the mini bar voucher so that's a nice touch.
The location is also very convenient (close to the Magnificent Mile and many other shops as well as public transport) and we didn't at all feel unsafe in the area at any point during our stay.
The only hiccup we had was when we got maid service one day and she must of accidentally broken a glass in the bathroom. My sister got cut on the foot and bled a little and we had to call housekeeping to get the tiny shards vacuumed up. The hotel was super apologetic and they offered her tons of antiseptics/bandaids/bandages and apologised profusely. The issue was dealt with efficiently which was good, and I can't even really be mad at the maid because she was lovely enough to leave chocolates and candy on our bedside because it was Valentine's!
All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Not only is the room beautiful and comfortable, the staff really go out of their way to be exceptional. Thanks Hotel Monaco!
