“What a gem of a find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

This place surely was the gem of the Hotels we stayed in San Francisco. The location great, The staff amazing. The rooms huge, clean & user friendly. Abit noisy but hell you are in the guts of San Francisco. The breakfast average but then they tell you this when you check in. Would stay here again with no apprehension.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor at the back of the hotel. Still abit noisy as our rooms backed onto a side...

Well, there was good and bad here. I guess I will start with the good.
Advantages:
-close to bus stop
-friendly staff
-decently clean
-a/c in room
-fairly decent location
-free wifi
-free parking
-big tv in room (flat screen)

Disadvantages:
-tiny tiny room
-tiny tiny bathroom
-on busy/loud street
-gross carpet on the floor
-expensive for what you get...

All this being said: San Francisco is a very expensive city. My boyfriend and I were on a 3 week camping/hoteling road trip. We were in SF for 4 days. We picked this hotel because we had a car and there was free parking which was important for us. The free wifi was also great. My biggest issue about this hotel which i did not mention above is the "Free Breakfast"... all it is is BREAD & OATMEAL... and a couple of apples and oranges, and obviously coffee & tea. But it was ridiculous. I don't even think they should be able to stay breakfast included because its not breakfast. Its basically tea & a snack....
Stay here if you get a smoking good deal, otherwise I would recommend staying elsewhere. Especially if you are a light sleeper and you like a hearty breakfast!

The bus route system is super easy from here, takes you to fisherman's wharf and union square. It is approx a 30 minute walk there. Uphill everywhere it seems!

Either way, enjoy SF. What a beautiful & amazing city!

Room Tip: Ask for the bigger rooms. We were given a small room because we wanted to get in there right away an...

For the price, this place SUCKS... $200 a night for a tiny, stuffy, noisy room... As my husband said, "continental breakfast? Not sure which continent they're referring to... bread, or ummm... bread? Oh wait, and squeezee strawberry jelly! Perhaps an apple or an orange?" Pitiful! Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

Room Tip: AVOID... But if you have to stay here request one of the rooms set back from the road if you can...

stayed here in the cheapest room. $100 for a double bed right on the highway. the room was small, very clean (except the carpet), with a stall shower (no bathtub). it was exactly what i expected. San Francisco is expensive so a clean room for $100 is okay with me. the room had modern furnishing and fresh paint. it looked like they were getting ready to replace the carpet. the continental breakfast was perfect for me, but if you like donuts stay elsewhere. it was coffee, juice, toast, instant oatmeal, and fresh fruit. the road noise doesn't bother me, but it is right on the highway so if you don't use ear plugs ask for a room in the back, but beware they are more expensive. i would stay there again. oh and they have free parking!

Room Tip: ask for a room in the back to avoid road noise.

Affordable place in a great location. Right on lombard street, few minutes away from pier 39 and the Golden Gate, and it's clean! . Limited choice of breakfast but what the heck, you're in SF few minutes away from the pier , save some space in your tummy for great seafood at the pier , the clam chowder's great btw ! :). I would recommend this place.

My wife and I have stayed at La Luna Inn for years now. The rooms are ok and the best part is the parking (SF parking is a nightmare and expensive) which it is included with the room reservation. The location is perfect and make sure you leave your vehicle at the hotel. Golden Gate Bridge is within walking distance, or you can take public transportation to all places in SF in front of the hotel. Breakfast is mediocre but for the room price is just ok. The best thing you can do is to walk SF if you are up to it (traffic can be a pain at times), or rent a bicycle. Rooms facing Lombard St are noisy, so try to get a room in the back. We love SF which it is just 2 hours from our home in Monterey. If you are staying more than a week in SF, take at least one day to drive south to Monterey via Highway 1. You won't regret it.

Room Tip: Don't get a room facing Lombard Street, they are noisy (otherwise don't forget your earplugs...

We stayed here for 3 nights, when we arrive the check in was slow. The reception guy was slow but polite. Parking is limited however we had no parking problems as there were not fully booked.

The room is small but clean and comfy enough. Bed was not huge but clean sheets and comfy. There is a window where people from the corridor can look into so if you want privacy, keep the curtains close. Bathroom was clean eventhough small. The free breakfast only provides toast, 1-2 types of pastries, coffee and diluted juice. We rather have breakfast outside then having the free breakfast.

Well, what can you expect for a reasonable price in that location, most importantly is clean.
