I stayed just up the street from the Juliana over the Labor Day weekend. Thought everyone should know that it is now closed and construction is underway to convert it into timeshares. Too bad, based on what everyone said here.

Good location, friendly service, affordable. We stayed there for a week in mid June when the Sox were in SF and loved the hotel. I would highly recommend it and we will definitely book another stay.

Loved our stay and found the rooms very comfortable. Location is also a big plus since we could walk to nearby locations such as China Town and Fisherman's Wharf or hop on public transit. Wine tasting added a great touch. Parking is a bit tough and not convenient. Otherwise, pretty good place to stay.

Know what? All the other reviews were right on! This hotel is a great find - very comfortable accommodations, unbeatable location, reasonable price. I stayed for 3 nights at the end of June and I was extremely satisfied.

The Bush/Stockton St. location is prime - 1 block from Powell-Hyde or Powell-Mason and 2 blocks from Calif. cable lines. 2 blocks up from Union Sq. and 1 street over from Chinatown gates. Stockton St. is on the route of several major MUNI bus lines - 30, 45. Compared to other trendy hotels, Juliana is in a much safer area than those on Geary St. (Savoy, Monaco, Diva et al).

Loved all the complimentary services, incl. the Aveda toiletries, cont'l breakfast (not fancy, not quality, but it nicely compensated for a lack of a hotel restaurant), the bowl of apples, the wine reception, the towncar service to fin'l district.

For better breakfast fare, walk 1 block to Grant St. to get something at Second Cup or Cafe de la Presse. Or as another reviewer mentioned, the Roxanne rest. on Powell St. is 1 block in the other direction.

My room on the 4th flr was well-decorated and spacious. Lots of walking space even though it included a double bed, 2 night tables, a desk/chair, sofa, armchair, round corner table, TV cabinet. Bathroom was large, clean and bright. Great water pressure, too. Bed was plump with a mattress pad and I had more down pillows than I needed.

A small quibble was that even though my room was at the back of Bush St., I was awoken by noisy garbage trucks early every morning. Even on the weekends.

If you require parking, use the Sutter/Stockton multi-level garage across the street. There are entrances on Bush and on Sutter St. $6 for 24 hours.

The front desk staff were a bit clued out when it came to "tourist" info, such as locations of places (a convalescent home), bus lines and their frequency or even the cost of stamps. However, they were well-trained for their courtesy.

Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay and have no hesitation recommending it or staying there again.

I stayed at the Juliana at the end of May to attend a conference, and to my delight, the hotel was only steps away from Union Square and about a 10min walk from the convention center. My company, was also very pleased when they saw the bill. When other hotels were asking for a whooping 180-200/night, Juliana was only 115/night. Did I mention free wine in the evening... Good stuff. If I have the opportunity to go to San Fran again, I will definitely stay at this hotel.
