Nolichuckey Bluffs Bed and Breakfast

We had a wonderful stay at the Nolichucky Bluffs. We chose the Redbud cabin. It has a hot tub enclosed on the back porch and the view of the mountains is such a nice greeting in the morning. Having coffee and watching the clouds reveal the mountains in the morning was a great way to start the day. We had a wonderful stay and had our lil dog with us.

The only problem we had was getting up and down the driveway. We had a small sporty car and the drive is a bit steep with loose gravel and a curve at the top. It was tricky. As long as you know that and have a vehicle that will take on those conditions ( I would recommend a truck or SUV to be safe) then you will love it!!

Room Tip: Driveway to the Redbud cabin is tricky! Beware. It's worth it though.

We stayed in the Dogwood duplex cabin and it was exactly what we needed after a month of small trail-town lodgings along the NC / TN section of the Appalachian Trail. The cabin has a breathtaking view of the Nolichucky River as well as the surrounding mountains. Parking was more than adequate although we chose to stroll to breakfast on most mornings.

The breakfasts served in Grandma's Pantry were delicious and were surpassed only by the friendliness of the owners. They went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and suggested local sights to see as well as nearby restaurants. (If a restaurant serves large portions, the cabin has a microwave and kitchenette for re-heating leftovers!).

We owned and operated a Bed & Breakfast in Lexington, VA for 9 years and it is our experience that B&Bs come in all shapes and sizes; from Victorian homes to cabin rentals. What really matters is the hospitality of the owners; Patricia, Brooke & Pam all get rave reviews in that department.

We will return.

Nolichucky Bluffs is a B&B only in the loosest sense of the term. While clean, this place is in the middle of nowhere, is comprised of spartan little "houses", and has little to offer the traveler who is seeking the B&B experience. Far better suited for someone who wants to bring in their own groceries and cook since there are no places to eat closer than 10 or so miles away. We were asked to wash our own dishes, etc. which is what one expects in a vacation rental but not in a B&B.

Our advertising does indicate that we are Bed and Breakfast cabins. As such, if you use the kitchen accommodations in your own cabin, we do ask you to leave the kitchen as you found it. However, when served daily breakfast at Gramma's Cupboard, we do not expect guests to do dishes and do have a hospitality staff to serve guests.

We returned to Nolichuckey Bluffs for the third year in a row. As usual, we picked the Redbud
cabin which sits atop the bluff overlooking the river. The cabin presents a 180 degree view of the mountains and river with no obsructions. The cabin was ready for our arrival completed ready with the extras that i had requested. We plan to return each year for our getaway to a quiet peaceful retreat from work.

Stayed in Redbud and it was clean, cozy and comfortable. Gas fireplace, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and a view of the river that was grand.

Breakfast was truly homemade and make sure you get the granola recipe ....

Pam, the owner, is wonderful and the perfect host.

Peeked in and saw two other cabins and the same - all clean and comfortable!

Will go back again and again ....

Room Tip: Redbud or the Log Cabin were our favorites due to ability to socialize with those sharing the cabin.

Nolichucky Bluffs provides unbeatable mountain views and a peaceful retreat. Our two night stay in the Dogwood Cabin at Nolichucky Bluffs was absolutely wonderful. The cabin was ready upon arrival - complete with freshly baked cookies. The cabin has a balcony with a view of the river, and easy access to the glass chapel and paths around the property. Firewood was provided for the wood-burning stove and fire pit outside. The owners provided the fixings for s'mores that topped off a perfect evening around the campfire. Rooms, Service, Value, Cleanliness, Dining - all A+. We enjoyed baked goods made on site as part of breakfast - and were able to purchase freshly baked, healthy, delicious bread and jams to take with us! We look forward to someday visiting again.

Room Tip: The view from "The Cabin" is superb - but we think "The Dogwood" has a fabulous...

We stayed for two nights and were very pleased. Very helpful staff. Great breakfast. The view from the Log Cabin was very nice. It was quiet and secluded. Reasonable price. The cabin was nicely furnished and very clean.

Room Tip: The Log Cabin has the best views and is a little more secluded.
