We really enjoyed the friendly welcome and delicious breakfast. The history of the Jackson Rose was clearly represented. Our room was nicely decorated in the historic period. Everything went well during our stay. Deb and Phil are excellent hosts. We hope to return to a truly wonderful B & B experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Jackson room facing the rose garden.

Very nice, very historic B&B just outside of Harpers Ferry, WV. It's a short drive or a medium walk down hill to the town. Hosts were very pleasant, engaged in making the stay enjoyable and then staying out of the way. Breakfasts were excellent and there were some very good cookies waiting when we got back in the evening. We were there out of season, but it was still a very enjoyable time. But be forewarned: the Jackson Rose is the highlight of the trip. There isn't much in Harpers Ferry or the surrounding area unless you like the local history and a tour of Antietam battle field. If you are a hiker or biker you will be well rewarded. There is the casino in nearby Charles Town, but it is a sad, sad place. Even nearer Shepherdstown is more enjoyable even though it is smaller, probably because it is a college town. A little longer car ride will take you to Frederick MD, and there are some vineyards over the border in Virginia. If you are going to the area, stay at the Jackson Rose.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are fine, but if private TV is important to you, get the Garret room. We did not ha...

We recently spent two great nights at the Jackson Rose. We were pleased to be in the Garret Room at the very top of the house, which is very private and has plenty of space to spread out. Deb and Phil are wonderful hosts...Deb's breakfasts are just incredible! Very sophisticated and elegant while still being down-home delicious. The weather turned cold while we were there, but our room was cozy even as the wind blew around the house. Harper's Ferry has lots to see, our only complaint is the lack of good restaurants. We had a good dinner at the Anvil one night and then rode over to the Mediterranean Café in nearby Charles Town for our second night. Sadly, we had to cut our trip short but would definitely return.

After searching and reading reviews of about every B&B in the Harpers Ferry area, I settled on The Jackson Rose to surprise my boyfriend with a weekend getaway. The Jackson Rose was the perfect spot tucked away from the lower town area. It is beautiful, well maintained, and quiet.

Phil and Deb are wonderful host who make sure that you are enjoying your stay without being intrusive. They are a great help to understand what to see in the area when you don't do much research beforehand. They also provide a wonderful, home cooked breakfast each morning that will fill you up for a day on the trails and in town.

I definitely recommend The Jackson Rose as a place to stay, and we will hopefully return for a visit there in the future!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Garrett Room - it's the third floor with a very comfortable bed and very quiet.

If you're going to Harpers Ferry, why wouldn't you want to sleep where Gen. Stonewall Jackson slept? The Jackson Rose (ask the proprietors the story behind the name) is a beautiful ante-bellum home a short walk from the historic downtown. (You may want to skip the nearby Anvil restaurant, though.)

What can I add to what's already been said? Great hospitality in a fine old house - the icing on the cake was staying in the room where Stonewall Jackson once stayed. Our only regret is that we only spent one night at the Jackson Rose!

This is an excellent B&B. It was clean, nicely decorated, and the food was wonderful. I believe everything was homemade--even the spreads for the bread. We really cannot stress the quality of the food enough. The proprietors obviously know what they are doing, and they do it well. Not only were the breakfasts among the best we have had, but the afternoon snacks were delicious (and a welcome suprise) as well. The owners are more than willing to provide recommendations and answer questions, and pay attention to every detail--right down to nice music during breakfast. We will certainly be returning and telling others to check it out as well. Can't go wrong with this B&B!
