Walk on the AT at Harpers Ferry give you a glance of what is the big adventure. I recommend paying a visit to the AT Conservancy HQ. They have many maps, information, merchandise, and wonderful people that will explain to you the magic of this adventure!!

“Great terrain”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

Hiked south on the AT to hit the Loudoun Heights overlook - the trail was in fantastic shape despite all of the moisture from a recent snowfall. The first mile was almost all uphill climbing, but it was paced and provided wonderful views along the ascent. The hike through Harpers Ferry is much easier and also picturesque. A wonderful section of the trail for an easy hiking weekend.

“Fabulous”
Reviewed 11 March 2013

Well maintained footpath through historical Harpers Ferry, WV. Cabins if you would like to stay--usually booked well in advance but always worth checking. Spring moisture brings early flowers and mosses alive, summer is rife with animals and the fall colors leave you breathless. Some areas are close enough to get in to local towns for dinner/shower/a real bed--bonus if you are hiking some or all of the AT. Fee applicable to the Skyline Drive, not the trail itself.

“Awesome view!”
Reviewed 19 November 2012

Excellent experience...get out and WALK! Take your camera and binoculars. Sunscreen, too and a wear a hat. Some bug-spray just in case. Keep the kids quiet, not everyone wants to hear your gabbing! Stop every so often and observe the quiet and peace around you!

“Awesome way to spend an afternoon on a pretty day”
Reviewed 10 November 2012

The trail is well traveled and kept up...even after a recent storm the path was clear. The views are wonderful. Bears Den is definitely worth hiking to.
