“Best place in Moab unless you want to pay more than you need to”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

If you visit Moab to enjoy the spectacular outdoors and will only spend a few hours every night at the hotel, then Motel 6 Moab is for you. Quiet location, almost out of town, clean and basic rooms with everything that you need for a good night's sleep. The value can't be beat!! Also, very friendly and helpful staff, especially Corey, the morning manager - she went out of her way to solve a problem with our reservation, to our entire satisfaction.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor

We stayed here in preparation for a hiking trip. It is exactly as billed - an inexpensive, no frills hotel. No breakfast, no shampoo and nothing fancy. The rooms have laminate floors so sound reverberates a bit. But, it was clean, the staff was very nice, and the price was good.

When planning this trip to Moab, UT for our group, went searching for the best priced chain hotel for the trip. Motel 6 was the one. Was wondering if they gave a AAA discount so I called. The receptionist said that they did but was unsure and put me on hold a little too long so I hung up and checked online. No where on their site did I find it. But through a search i found that if you ask for it when you arrive that they give a 10% discount. So I booked online. Great Price. Before coming we thought we may need a roll away bed. So again I asked about the discount and she reassured me that they do have a 10% discount just ask for it when you arrive. She was surprised the other lady was unsure and apologized for the inconvenience. Upon arrival the staff was awesome. The room was not spotless but sufficient. Beds and pillows were clean and sufficient. Bathroom was clean. Having the new vinyl floors are much better then the old carpet. But as a result more noisy. Another party in our group mentioned to me that he was surprised that they would put a dirty bedspread on his bed and leave it there through his stay, he was shy and didn't say anything. Through out the stay the hallways and were not quite clean in fact they need a good shampooing. The elevator needed moped, but the entry and rooms were sufficient. Upon leaving the receptionist asked how our stay was and i told her about the hallways, she informed me that they only had one housekeeper and that they would take care of it. I would think that just coming off a slow season that all of those things would have been projects to take care of for the busy season. Now if I would stay there again, Probably not, it was a little too noisy for me and i like things a little cleaner. For our group it was a great deal. As far as Motel 6 is concerned I have stayed and will stay with them again have stayed at some awesome and surprisingly clean ones. In fact I have reservations at some others for my next trip already.

For $30/a night, you can't beat this hotel. Hardwood-look flooring, a surprisingly nice midcentury aesthetic in the rooms, comfy beds with tons of pillows. The manager was kind and helpful.

AND they don't charge extra for pets or have size restrictions!! There's an empty field behind the hotel perfect for taking your dog out for a quick bathroom break.

An added bonus: the motel is just a short drive from Arches.

One note: they don't provide shampoo, just soap (it is only $30/night), so bring your own.

We would definitely stay here again.

I've stayed here a few years ago and found the motel to be just fine; and last year I was really disappointed because they were closed the month I came to visit so they could refurbish the place to the 'new style' that Motel 6's are changing to.

Right now it is still in their slow winter season, so the rate was incredible this month... but it will jump as everything else here will in March. However, I believe it probably is always going to be the best deal in town. Sure, no clock, no micro/fridge in the rooms, but the beds are comfortable, the heaters are very good, the bathroom has a better tub/shower than the old corner showers that Motel 6 was infamous for. And the flat screen tvs are excellent, with more channels than usual Motel 6's.

There is a very good microwave in the lobby along with a computer that guests can use. Coffee is available there also all day... and there is an elevator so you can stay on the third floor away from the first where pets are allowed. I so like the third floor for the view and privacy so you can keep the window open.

The updated style is attractive, and some of the rooms are quite large. I'm so glad for being able to sleep through breakfast hour because there is none here... and since the coffee is available all day, again there is no time limit for that. I can sleep in!

I definitely would recommend this place... and if you are particular about a clock, thick towels, soaps or shampoo... remember what $ you're saving, and bring your own! Actually, I got an excellent clock radio at a thrift store here... since I'm staying 6 days and don't have a watch. And there are always local stores where you can get extras.

Everyone at the front desk over the different shifts has been very helpful... especially Karla (yes, with a K)... she is so cheerful and helpful.

Room Tip: South side view isn't so great; north side view is best. However, I do like the third floor for...

We were turned off before we even checked in. The girl at the counter took a personal phone call before she checked us in. She greeted us, the phone rang, she talked to the person for a bit and then started our check in process. We had a reservation and when she quoted us the price is was way more than what we had reserved at. She figured out it was her mistake, and it was fine. We received no direction at all from her as to where our room was. She handed us our key and pointed at the elevator. She seemed to be too busy to really give any quality service. When we got off the elevator the hallway carpet was very worn and VERY dirty. When a hotel is newly remodeled you expect to see either new carpet or at least clean carpet. Our room was not very clean either. The floor was gritty and obviously hadn't been swept well. The duvet cover was not only dirty but was also stained with who knows what. We tossed it on the floor because we didn't want it touching our bodies! The sheets and pillow cases smelled clean but all had old stains on them, and we found 3 long black hairs in our bed (we are hoping those were from the maid). There was NO clock of any kind in the room. The decor in the room made it feel very cold. It felt to us like a dorm room or military barracks. The hotel also has paper thin walls, so be prepared to hear everything going on next door! Our neighbor took a shower and it sounded like they were in our room it was so loud. We stay in a lot of different hotels and we've never been in one whose walls were so thin. We prefer a hotel that has a homey feel to it, and this one really let us down. We will not be returning.

Dear Cassie L, Thank you for sharing your experience at our hotel. Our entire team takes great pride in our hotel. We are sorry the front desk clerk took a personal call during your check-in. This is against our policy. Your comments regarding housekeeping will be shared with the head housekeeper to make improvements. Thank you and we hope you will give us another opportunity to show you our improvements.
