“Great Tipi Experience!”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

My husband and I very much enjoyed our one-night stay in early August! The tipi tent was clean and well-ventilated. The bathrooms were clean and not a far walk. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the campfire in the evening, and the surrounding scenery in the morning with the sunrise! The breakfast burrito was also enjoyable and perfect for a pre-hike meal. This also is in a great location, close enough to downtown Moab, and the entrance to Arches National Park! We would definitely stay here again - a very cool, clean and simple concept!

We stayed one night in safari tent #44. It's located close to the highway and I couldn't sleep at all. Our tent was very clean and comfortable. However, it would have been nice to be able to charge phones and camera. Anyway, the beauty of the place and sunrise were unforgettable. We paid $180 for two people. It was pretty pricey but everything in Moab is pricey!

I appreciate the time and effort to post a response and share your experience!

The road noise can be a bit of a challenge but not one we have much control over. I'm happy to hear that you found the location and experience unique and memorable.

We do offer a charging station at the front desk and I'm sorry we did not inform you of that upon your check in.

I hope you will give us another try during your next visit to Moab.

Take care and thanks again,

Daren

We stayed one night in a Tipi tent. The area and tent ground is stunningly beautiful, the staff were very friendly, and the price okish. However, the beds are narrow and anyone of above average weight or height will probably not have a very comfortable sleep. Moab Under Canvas is located 15 min. outside of Moab, and can be a bit tricky to locate, but the sunset, sunrise, and a star sky out of this world makes it worthwhile.

We stayed three nights at Moab Under Canvas in early July. We are a family of three adults and four young children, and stayed in a Deluxe tent with adjacent teepee for the kids. The children enjoyed their first introduction to camping - they loved the nightly campfire and marshmallow roasts, and then stargazing afterwards.
The main tent had a water misting system to keep the inside cool. However, we were in the middle of the desert, and there were times when it got unbearably hot. The King sized bed in the Deluxe tent was very comfortable, and the cots for the kids were reasonable.
The hotel supplied battery-powered fans and lanterns. However, living without electricity had its challenges, as our cell phone and computer batteries slowly dwindled. (The reception area offers a recharging service for $5).
The washroom area was basically a sink, shower and toilet partitioned from the sleeping area by a canvas screen. It did not offer much privacy or sound insulation.
There were no onsite restaurants, but Moab is just a quick drive away. You can pre-order breakfast the night before at the reception, and have it delivered from a nearby restaurant in the morning. It was simple and filling, though the choices were limited and expensive.
The location was excellent - close to the entrance to Arches, and a short drive to Canyonlands.

Room Tip: Deluxe tents have a great view.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and I’m glad we were able to provide a great basecamp for your Moab adventure!

As you mention July in Moab can be a wee bit warm and I’m happy to hear that the mister system helped cool things off and the night time temperatures do drop off to make plesant sleeping weather.

We hope to see you again during your next visit to our area!

Take care and thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback and insight.

We loved the idea and despite a wind storm still think it was a great moment in our trip. We only stayed one night, in a Safari tent #14. It was situated away from the center fire ring and bathhouse which was nice. We strolled the entire grounds at night following the solar path lights around the land and star gazing. Our chairs served us well to move them about when the sun/shade moved. The bath stalls are tight and stuffy but we just popped into the handicap stall since it was free. Perhaps a spacious shower area is a possible change to make.
Our safari tent King bed was so comfy, the the hall tree handy for keeping stuff off the floor. We loved our tent window facing sunrise and I suppose some loved theirs facing sunset. But in summer i was much more fond of the sun early in the day and tired of it late in the day and hiding. So sunrise for me! The office had ample hot tea and cold water and staff were delightful.
Lastly, it was pricey at $165/night but we were treating ourselves after 2 days couch surfing at friends, 2 days in the Canyons in Park City, and 2 days in a hostel in Moab. So it all evened out. Thanks for bringing this idea to Moab. And thanks for tying those tents down well so they stood up to a 30mph overnight wind storm. Wow!

Room Tip: #14 Safari - away from toilets, fire ring, office, and road.

We are exploring a number of options on the restroom and shower facilities for the future! Only being open a short while feedback such as yours is invaluable in helping us find solutions to continue and enhance the campo and guest experience.

I have been to Moab many time, enjoyed hiking, rafting, the Internatioal Music Festival. They have an amazing community center and pool that anyone can use. Good food and friendly. It is just what I expected it to be. The hostel is really bad, the hotels a little pricey, but the scenery fantastic.

We stayed in both the Deluxe and Suites and both were great. I am wheel chair bound but could make the transfer up the steps so wasn't an issue. Rooms are very well kept and the proper bed and toilet / shower configuration gave my wife what she wanted and the remoteness and tents gave me what I wanted.

Perfect location for off roading trips and we cooked at the central gathering point each night and had a great time. The staff are fantastic and will help in any way possible. Hope Christiana is doing well after her rock to foot incident.

Those who complain about price point should try the holiday inn at 450 a night yes they don't have electricity but it is what it is and it is great!

Room Tip: I woulo suggest a deluxe or suite with the included toilet and shower

I'm happy to report that Christianna is well on the road to recover after her "incident" and she is on the road to be a good as new shortly.

Great feedback and suggestions and we hope to see you back here soon!
