“would gladly stay here again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

We spent one night here on our swing through Canyonlands and Arches and we should have planned two. There is so much to see in the area and this hotel in the center of the town of Moab is a great base. They service quality is excellent and the location near the center of the tourist part of town is nearly perfect. The wide range of restaurants, shopping and supplies all within a few blocks allows you to get out of your car after a long days drive and spend the evening on foot.

We found the staff to be excellent. They were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area and choices.

Our room, a king non-smoking, was large, clean and a good value for the location and quality.

If you can't tell we were really pleased overall and will be back next time we are in the area.

Room Tip: Our room was on the second floor and accessible from the less busy back parking lot. The room was q...

The suites are very large and comfortable. The pool and spa area is a great space to unwind and cool off. The breakfast area has lots of seating space including outdoor space. Location is very central. Overall a great experience.

Clean, great location, staff knew their city and its amenities very well. I stayed here last year and liked the condition of the hotel well enough to return. They made some welcome changes to the pool area that my visiting grandchildren enjoyed (waterfall). I will stay there again.

If you draw a line from Denver to Las Vegas, and another one from Albuquerque to Salt Lake City, they cross on the desert outpost of Moab, Utah. That's why Moab is always a layover on any road-trip through the Four Corners region. It also happens to be a spectacular setting, a low lying oasis among vertical red-wall cliffs. It's the launch point for upper Colorado River rafting expeditions, a few hours upriver from the impressive CR / Green River confluence. It's a mountain-biker mecca. It's also minutes from the entrance to Arches National Park, and about an hour from Canyonlands NP. It's also the best place from which to access the Colorado National Monument, Hanging Lakes CO, and Goblin Valley State Park UT. We've been to Moab more than once. This time we drove from Moab directly to Capitol Reef NP and stayed that night in Torrey, UT just at the entrance to Capital Reef.

Despite it's central location, Moab hasn't yet attracted any major luxury resort developers. The hotel offerings are somewhat meager. Strangely, this adds to he charm of the place. It remains not un-touched, but lightly touched. The one upscale resort in town - the Sorrel River Ranch - is actually 17 miles out of town and not at all convenient if you're in Moab to enjoy Arches NP. Sorrell is also pretentious and way over-priced. The best choice in Moab is the BW Canyonlands Inn.

The room is a typical BW efficiency unit. Try to get the King or Queen suite for just a few dollars more, which has much more space to stretch out, a big comfy leather lounge chair, a sofa & table set, a mini fridge, and lots of usable surfaces - a room feature which is under-appreciated. The suite also has two sinks - another key feature which encourages domestic tranquility. Windows open so you can breathe the fresh desert air.

The hotel offers a quality complimentary breakfast to all guests. Well prepared bacon & eggs, great waffle machines, abundant cereals, fruits, and juices. It's an early crowd at the BW as everyone is keen to get on the hiking trail - or on the road - and usually the dining room is cleared out by 9am. You can also enjoy your breakfast al fresco in the morning sun if you can handle the glare. There are at least two high capacity ice machines, but get to them early if you want to fill your cooler. There is a laundry facility, but it is over-used.

Problems with the hotel: Canyonlands Inn is not Cheap. This reflects the limited supply of quality hotels in town. The in-room climate control is a noisy, imposing machine. Many rooms overlook the pool, which is noisy until 10pm. Parking is almost rationed and the spaces are small. The cleanliness of the carpet and decorative pillows in the room is questionable. (This is true in most hotel rooms, even very good ones.)

One last thought: This hotel is popular and usually pretty full. So the staff here works hard just trying to feed and clean up after many, many families of campers, hikers, rafters, and other outdoor enthusiasts. The place is a bit of a factory, and the workers must struggle to remind themselves that the business they're in is hospitality. Likewise, the guests most behave civilly and share the space gently.

Room Tip: To get a King Suite, book early.

Best Western PLUS Canyonlands Inn, Moab is located close to both Arches and Canyonlands national parks. It was so convenient to visit both NPs which saved travel time during our vacation. Inn came with a refrigerator came in handy for storing cold water which definitely needed after a long, hot, dry days of hiking national parks. Hotel pool and spa was also good for relaxing our tired body. Hotel rate was on the expensive side compare to other hotels I used; but considering convenient location close to 2 national parks, it was a OK price to pay.

We were in Moab last week. We loved the area and the hotel was so great, we wished we had the whole week to spend there. We could tell the staff paid attention to every detail. The pool area was clean and inviting and a relaxing place the spend our last morning. We enjoyed eating our breakfast out on the lovely deck off the dining room. The room was very clean as well and again lots of attention to the details. Lots of great sample toiletries, beautiful décor. We had a suite which was well planned for a family. There was a very helpful restaurant guide in the room. We loved the hotel and will definitely book there again when we return!. Thanks for a great stay.
