“Perfect spot for a family stop in Moab”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Nice upgrades, lovely pool, very good breakfast buffet with healthy options and an outdoor patio overlooking the pool where you can enjoy the cool morning air, smack in the middle of town so you can get everywhere on foot. Very friendly staff all around. We'd definitely stay here again.

The Best Western Canyonlands location is at about the center of Moab. This hotel is a typical chain hotel, but includes some wonderful additions. Our comfortable room with a king bed overlooked a parking lot, but the scenic view above the lot was worth waking up to. Breakfast is included in the room rate and they offer a buffet of a wide variety of surprisingly good dishes - not the tired muffin, juice and coffee fare found in some other hotels. While most guests preferred to breakfast indoors, there is a rooftop sitting area with lounge chairs and tables that is a perfect spot to start and end the day. One section overlooks the pool just off the lobby. While we didn't really use the pool, it also is surrounded by a number of very comfortable loungers and tables - nice spot to cool off on a "warm" July evening. And ultimately, the hotel's location is a real plus. After a day of hiking in Arches or Canyonlands, it was so convenient to simply walk down the street to one of Moab's many restaurants. Overall, we had a very relaxing stay here.

Robert V,
Thank you for your kind review. I agree that breakfast on the patio is the perfect start to the day. Did you know that the patio also has a fireplace for those cooler summer nights? A perfect way to unwind after a long day of exploring. I hope that you will come back to see us again soon.

we had excellent rooms and accomodatins all through our vacation. we travel every summer and this was the first time we choose to stay at only the Best Western family chain of Motels. Our family enjoys being able t check in and then let our children swim while we relax in the hot tub. Our only complaint would have been at the Moab Location where the shower water ran acrfoss the floor because the lip n the floor was too low and the shower curtain too high to keep the water from running out. My suggestion would be to just lower the shower curtain rod to allieviate this problem.

Lew S,

I am pleased to hear that you chose to stay at Best Western Branded hotels during your recent vacation. We definitely appreciate your loyalty to our brand. I have brought your suggestions of the shower curtain to our maintenance department, they are working to remedy the issue now. Thank you again for taking the time to share your recent experience with us.

Good parking and check in experience. Nice luxurious lobby with lemon flavored ice water, apples, sometimes cookies, a big basket of butterscotch candy, couches, and a book with recommendation cards for various eateries and Moab activities. Rolling luggage cart made it convenient to get our luggage to the room. There is an elevator.

We were in room 230. No complaints about the room. The air conditioner worked really well. We like to sleep cold, like 65 degrees, and it chilled the room right down to that. We were on the upper floor, so no noise from above us. Lots of children and families in this hotel, so if you don’t want to hear the people above you, ask for a 2nd floor room. There were two beds plus a couch/bed in our room, plus plenty of floor space. Bathroom soaps, shampoos, accoutrements were top tier.

Wifi was good, fast enough to watch Netflix. It dropped out a few times over the 4 days. My daughter had to run Pandora in the background on her ipad to keep her wifi connection open. I had no problems on my laptop.

We stayed four nights, and the third and fourth day when we returned from our day’s activities, our card-keys did not work. The first time the front desk attendant scared me by saying they had given the room to someone else, but she was just a little dyslexic and had looked at room 203 instead of 230. (I know I said 230, because I asked my daughter who was standing right behind me when I said it.) Anyhow, they got it fixed fairly fast both times. Still, it was a pain.

Breakfast is extremely well done, eggs, bacon, potatoes, cereal, waffles, yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, and even crescents, which was good because there were a lot of Europeans staying there when we were there. I heard French & German for sure, and possibly Finnish. The seating area for breakfast is very luxurious, with inside and outside seating, outside, if it’s not too hot, is a wonderful elevated porch with a view of Moab and the surrounding cliffs. The breakfast staff were very visible, polite and attentive.

Pool is really nice. Towels are provided at the pool. The hot tub wasn’t hot the first night, which was disappointing after we hiked several miles that day. My muscles could have used it. They heated it up by the next night, and it was hot for 3 of our 4 nights.

Summary: There are many non-chain hotels in Moab, but if you want full service, with a breakfast, this is a good option. It’s certainly not the least expensive place in Moab, might be closer to the most expensive, but it’s a nice high-end Best Western.

Room Tip: If you don't want to hear pitter patter of feet above you from all the families, ask for an upst...

This hotel and Moab were so interesting and intriguing we stayed an extra night. Even though we had to pay a much higher rate, since the hotel was full, the staff accommodated us with the same room. The hot tub was the largest and nicest we have seen even at much more expensive hotels. Moab is a very unique and attractive area and this hotel was in the heart of it all.

We stayed in Pool View Suite. Very comfortable. It's not in hotel but above restaurant beside it. This was t a problem for us, but there is no elevator to get up to it. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed eating outside each morning. The from desk people were a great help in setting up our zip line adventure.

Having stayed 3 nights in this hotel we really got a feel for the place and the staff. Our room was large and very well appointed with an area that had a couch. The staff including the kitchen servers were very friendly, efficient and helpful. It was great having an outdoor area to have breakfast or to lounge in after a long day of hiking in Moab. Extremely well situated right in the middle of town made it easy to walk to many good restaurants and interesting stores. The hotel was also near a supermarket so that we were able to purchase our lunch to bring into the park.
