Nice peaceful trail so close to the city. Moderate-sized hills to get the heart pumping. Very much liked the waterfall area and sharp cliff area.

“great place to walk the dog”
Reviewed 3 February 2013

Been there dozens of times. Great stream for dog to play in. But don't plan on letting your dog off the leash on the trails; I've been ticketed there.

“Hiking that's easy to reach”
Reviewed 20 November 2012

Easily accessible from Northern Virginia, DC, or Montgomery County - 2nd and 3rd right hand turnoffs from westbound VA193 Georgetown Pike after I495 Capital Beltway. Walk on roads or lightly groomed trails up the hill and down to the Potomac River.

“Stepping stones, waterfall and river view!”
Reviewed 26 October 2012

This is a pretty walk along a stream that you cross twice via stepping stones. We walked to the waterfall that meets at the Potomac river and then just retraced our steps because we did not have a map and were unfamiliar with the area. It was a beautiful walk especially with the changing leaves. The trail is fairly easy with only really one section of steeper incline. A great place for dogs. A good size parking lot, no fees and no restrooms.

“Gorgeous hideaway trail just minutes from McLean”
Reviewed 20 August 2012

A wonderful gem just a short drive from downtown Mclean with a loop trail that leads to a giant pay-off: a gorgeous waterfall near the edge of the Potomac. Great place to walk your dog (use a leash, please!) and if you're lucky, see some wildlife!
