Just setting one foot inside the welcoming front door of the Maryland Wine Bar and we knew we had found a "home away from home". You enter through a small cozy bar - walls lined with bottles of Maryland produced wine. Wine can be ordered by the glass - $6 at happy hour - and you may sample before ordering a full glass. It's so civilized that there are home-made chocolates for sale because we all know that chocolate and wine is a marriage made in heaven. The owner has an encyclopedic knowledge of Maryland vinyards is delighted to share with regulars, visitors, tourists - anyone who wanders in There is a lovely tasting room where vintners conduct wine tastings and - my favorite - a sitting room filled with soft chairs and sofas and cutting edge art - where one can sit, chat, and sip - we can't wait to get back to Berlin - I want to spend a snowy afternoon in the sitting room sipping a sparkly and munching on a chocolate crème.!
