This market is really a beautiful co-op and they have a very good selection of natural foods for its size. They also have set up a wonderful array of bins for recycling and I finally have found a place that accepts #5 plastic containers.

“An easy lunch”
Reviewed 13 August 2013

A great place to get a quick easy bite to eat. The soups are wonderful and change almost daily (3 different soups a day). The sandwiches are nice but try to get them made to order as the pre-made ones are the same price. The staff are wonderful and friendly, and the service is acceptable (it gets a little busy sometimes). My only complaint is that the deli closes about a half hour earlier than posted (8:00) because the staff are trying to get out on time.

“Tasty good!”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

The deli and pre-packaged lunch wraps and pasta salads are terrific. Grab an iced tea and sit outside in the shade and watch the hummingbirds. Tasty and satisfying...and probably good for you too!

“Great variety, healthy options and a great addition to a town that may not fully understand its mission”
Reviewed 18 March 2013

While working in Los Alamos last week I wanted to eat lunch somewhere new. I chose the Co-op deli and couldn't have been more pleased. With only a few mostly mediocre options in Los Alamos, the Co-op is both a great addition and maybe its forward thinking ethics and mission can help expand the mindsets of what is mostly a very cloistered, ultra-conservative and insular local population.

The irony of a few previous critical reviews about prices and ignorance of what this type of store's ethics represent were not lost on me. I guess when folks live off the largess of the federal government and have the highest per capita income in the entire U.S. they must get a bit misguided about the cost of things at any business up there. I suppose not being part of the "real" economy can cloud some people's image of what it costs to produce real quality goods and services. If one wants cheap food, don't care about community based ethics, or eating clean, pesticide-free products then shopping at the dull, conventional, chain grocery store down the road is an option.

I had a very nice smoked turkey sandwich made with a premium brand of meat, all the trimmings and multiple choices for bread, condiments, etc. My side pasta salad was incredibly good and everything was fresh, well prepared and served with a smile. The staff was hustling and it looked like all the other patrons were enjoying their meals in what is a very comfortable and well appointed dining area.

The store is bright, clean and I was equally impressed with the assortment of baked goodies and all the offerings in the deli case. It appears that very high quality coffees, juices and teas are available and the brownie I finished my meal with was on a par with any baked goods I've ever had. The store offers products from various local producers and their commitment to supporting those endeavors was very obvious.

The prices of things were very reasonable if one considers the effort involved and the quality of the ingredients and I will be back whenever working in town.

“Great organic fruit--but everything is overpriced”
Reviewed 27 February 2013

I've shopped here a few times, but limit my purchases because everything in the store is automatically marked up by 10%. The fruit quality is good, but many of the other co-op items are available at lower prices elsewhere.
