“Outstanding Historic Site!”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

This is a must see for History buffs! A great stop along the Santa Fe Trail. You can learn how the trading post operated and gain great insight about the lives of the traders of this time period.

It was quite hot on the day we visited, which sped up our tour a little; but it's definitely worthwhile. The staff was quite helpful with teaching and overall customer service.

There is a phone by the entrance where you can call for a shuttle (golf cart) if you are disabled and can't make the walk to the Fort. If you do walk, it's a nice paved path to the Fort.

“History buffs must.”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

Bent's Fort gives a fascinating peek into the history of the old West. There are lots of great artifacts to view. We were able to teats the bread the lady was making, the kids loved looking at and exploring all the bunks. The relics and sights really transport you back in time and give your imagination the chance to think about what it was life for the old travelers.

“Fascinating place; great guide”

Bent's Fort gives a fascinating peek into the history of the old West. There are lots of great artifacts to view. We had a personal tour with Jose, a retired school teacher who clearly loves sharing his knowledge. He made the visit very special for us.

“Entertainment for the whole family”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

Bent’s Old Fort is a real standout among the many historic sites associated with the exploration and early settlement of the American West. Visiting the faithfully reconstructed fort is educational, that’s for sure, but it’s also very entertaining. Unlike a lot of historic sites, this one is fun for the entire family too. Kids really like this place. (If you bring little ones, don’t let them stray too close to the parapet edges.)

Many thanks to the Park Service for giving us this opportunity to learn about -- and get the feel of – a very exciting time and place in our country’s history. Special thanks to Dave (our excellent tour guide), John, and others in period costume who helped us step back in time. And a nod to the playful cats whose hide-and-seek game in the parapet timbers was absolutely hilarious.

“Nice Stop on the Santa Fe Trail”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

If you find yourself traveling the Santa Fe Trail Bent's Old Fort is a great stop in southern Colorado. They have done a wonderful job restoring the old Adobe Trading Fort. The relics and sights really transport you back in time and give your imagination the chance to think about what it was life for the old travelers. It is a little out of the way, but a great addition to a day of exploration!
